Background: Gaps in discharge planning are experienced by 41% of hospital patients in Australia. There is an established body of knowledge regarding the features of the discharge process that need to be improved to avoid subsequent hospital readmission and enhance the discharge experience. However, many of these studies have focused solely on factors related to unplanned hospital readmissions and there has been limited success in operationalising improvements to the discharge process.

ERR-10: a new repressor in transcriptional signaling activation of estrogen receptor-alpha.

Estrogen receptor-alpha (ER-alpha) is a nuclear transcriptional factor that is part of the nuclear receptor superfamily. In this study, we isolated and identified a new LXXLL-containing protein that interacts with the ER-alpha via a yeast two-hybrid assay. We have termed this protein estrogen receptor repressor-10 (ERR-10).

Depression and Parkinson's disease: a new look at an old problem.

A National Institutes of Health (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke; National Institute of Mental Health; National Institute on Aging) working group meeting focused on the non-motor aspects of Parkinson's disease (PD). Below is the summary of the meeting presentations and recommendations for a research agenda on the epidemiology, assessment, circuitry, therapeutic approaches, and clinical trials of Parkinson's disease co-morbid with depression. A second summary will focus on PD and dementia.
