Therapeutic evaluation of sustained-releasing praziquantel (SRP) for clonorchiasis: phase 1 and 2 clinical studies.

Sustained-releasing praziquantel (SRP) tablet was designed for single dose treatment regimen of clonorchiasis. A previous pre-clinical study confirmed its sustained-releasing characteristics and a better cure rate than conventional praziquantel (PZQ). In this clinical study, the pharmacokinetics of this SRP tablet were investigated in human volunteers (phase 1; 12 volunteers), and its curative efficacy was examined in clonorchiasis patients (phase 2; 20 volunteers).

Surgical, radiologic, and histologic findings of the antrochoanal polyp.

Background: Of 15 patients with primary unilateral antrochoanal polyps (ACPs), we noticed that all ACPs except one extended through the accessory ostium of the maxillary sinus projected posterior along the nasal cavity. We observed no structural changes in ostiomeatal area on a coronal computed tomography scan.

Methods: We classified 15 patients with ACP into three stages according to the coronal computed tomography findings of (i) status of the accessory ostium of the maxillary sinus and (ii) level of extension to the nasopharynx.
