Article Synopsis
  • - Ossification of the ligamentum flavum primarily affects East Asians and leads to thoracic myelopathy, causing symptoms like loss of gait and spastic paralysis due to spinal cord compression.
  • - T2 sagittal MRI and whole spine scans are essential for diagnosis, while CT imaging helps differentiate this condition and plan surgery.
  • - Decompression surgery is the only effective treatment; prognosis improves with timely intervention, particularly depending on pre-surgery symptoms and the duration before surgery.
