Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of pedicle screw placement in patients undergoing percutaneous pedicle screw fixation with robotic guidance, using a newly developed 3-dimensional quantitative measurement system. The study also aimed to assess the clinical feasibility of the robotic system in the field of spinal surgery.

Methods: A total of 113 patients underwent pedicle screw insertion using the CUVIS-spine pedicle screw guide system (CUREXO Inc.

The present study evaluated the effects of fermented whey protein using kimchi lactic acid bacteria DK211 on skeletal muscle mass, muscle strength, and physical performance in healthy middle-aged males performing regular resistance exercises. Effective protein supplementation and regular exercise are two important factors for improving muscle health. Therefore, in this study, the effects of consuming fermented whey protein twice a day were investigated and compared with that of non-fermented supplementation.

Objectives: This study was designed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of plasma neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) with procalcitonin (PCT), C-reactive protein (CRP), and white blood cells (WBCs) for predicting acute pyelonephritis (APN) in children with febrile urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Materials And Methods: In total, 138 children with febrile UTIs (APN 59, lower UTI 79) were reviewed retrospectively. Levels of NGAL, PCT, CRP, and WBCs in blood were measured on admission.

In order to investigate the influence of HCS on the hydrogen occupation site of Mg2Ni alloy, the thermal desorption technique has been applied to Mg2Ni hydride made by hydriding combustion synthesis (HCS). Mg2Ni was made under low temperature in a short time by the HCS compared to conventional melting process. At various initial hydride wt% from 0.

We checked intraoperative patellar tracking with both 'towel clip technique' and the 'no thumb technique' on 97 patients (167 knees) who underwent primary total knee arthroplasty to decide whether to do or not to do lateral retinacular release. Patellar tracking was assessed under pneumatic tourniquet with the no thumb technique first and re-evaluated with the towel clip technique. The tracking was graded as total contact, good contact, lateral contact and subluxation.

We hypothesized that changes in patellar thickness following patellar resurfacing affect patellar tilt in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients. The study enrolled 272 TKAs and categorized them into four groups according to change in patellar thickness: (A) thinner by 1 mm or more, (B) equal or thinner by less than 1 mm, (C) thicker by 1 mm or less, and (D) thicker by more than 1 mm. Patellar tilt angle was measured postoperatively using Merchant radiography.

Hamstring tendon using quadrupled semitendinosus and gracilis autografts is a well-established technique for ACL reconstruction. However, several methods have been used for tibial fixation of the tendon graft. The purpose of this study was to compare the biomechanical characteristics of quadrupled hamstring graft tibial fixation using three different fixation methods.

Background/aims: The unavailability of human gastric cell lines representative of the normal gastric epithelial function such as polarized monolayer restricts the application of cell culture system in approaching the field of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infected gastric mucosa models. The present investigation aimed at assessing the usefulness of NCI-N87 cell line as an adequate cellular model to study the pathophysiology of human H.

Aim: To study the clinical significance of minimal ascites, which was only defined by the CT and whose nature was not determined preoperatively, in the relationship with the peritoneal carcinomatosis.

Methods: The medical records and the dynamic CT films of 118 patients with gastric cancer were reviewed. Factors associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis were analyzed in 40 patients who had CT-defined ascites of which the nature was surgically confirmed.
