Background: Human placental hydrolysate (hPH) contains anti-inflammatory substances. This study aimed to analyze whether injecting hPH into the subacromial space could reduce pain in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.
Methods: This single-blind, randomized controlled study enrolled 50 patients with shoulder impingement syndrome who were randomly assigned to either the hPH or placebo groups.
The popliteal artery segment is particularly challenging for endovascular treatment. Stents used for treating popliteal artery lesions are usually associated with an increased risk of stent fracture and re-occlusion. The Supera stent is designed to withstand mechanical stress, with a low risk of fracture.

After undergoing TKA, patients can be treated with continuous passive motion (CPM); however, inconsistent results have been reported on the effectiveness of CPM as part of a rehabilitation strategy. This discrepancy may be due to the difference between the set-arc of CPM and real arcs of knee motion.

MsrB1 is a thiol-dependent enzyme that reduces protein methionine--sulfoxide and regulates inflammatory response in macrophages. Therefore, MsrB1 could be a promising therapeutic target for the control of inflammation. To identify MsrB1 inhibitors, we construct a redox protein-based fluorescence biosensor composed of MsrB1, a circularly permutated fluorescent protein, and the thioredoxin1 in a single polypeptide chain.

To simplify the design, it employs a conventional Class-D power amplifier structure for the transmitter (TX) and a resistive feedback transimpedance amplifier (TIA), which consists of a common-source amplifier followed by a source follower for the receiver (RX). Through careful optimization, the RX achieves a measured transimpedance gain of 90 dBΩ and an input-referred noise of 5.

Here, we report a case of a silent hepatoduodenal fistula following TACE.
Patient Concerns: A 74-year-old man with a history of alcoholic liver cirrhosis and type 2 diabetes.
This paper investigates the potential of ChatGPT for helping humans tackle problems that require creativity. Across five experiments, we asked participants to use ChatGPT (GPT-3.5) to generate creative ideas for various everyday and innovation-related problems, including choosing a creative gift for a teenager, making a toy, repurposing unused items and designing an innovative dining table.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 212 patients with a single HCC ≤5 cm from five tertiary institutions. One hundred and nine patients were treated with 70-150-µm doxorubicin DEBs (group A), and 103 patients received 100-300-µm doxorubicin DEBs (group B).
Backgrounds: Freezing of gait (FoG) is a common and debilitating symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD) that can lead to falls and reduced quality of life. Wearable sensors have been used to detect FoG, but current methods have limitations in accuracy and practicality. In this paper, we aimed to develop a deep learning model using pressure sensor data from wearable insoles to accurately detect FoG in PD patients.

This paper presents a case of an abdominal wall hematoma caused by abdominal paracentesis in a 67-year-old woman with liver cirrhosis with a review of the relevant literature. Two days prior, the patient underwent abdominal paracentesis for symptom relief for refractory ascites at a local clinic.

Therefore, the aim of the current study was to investigate whether the temporal muscle thickness (TMT) or area (TMA) could serve as a surrogate marker for measuring skeletal muscle mass.
Methods: This retrospective chart review study was conducted on 244 participants from March 2018 to February 2020.
Redox mediators comprising I, Co, and TiCTx MXene were applied to dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). In the as-prepared DSCs (I-DSCs), wherein hole conduction occurred via the redox reaction of I/I ions, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) was not altered by the addition of TiCTx MXene. The I-DSCs were exposed to light to produce Co/Co-based cells (Co-DSCs), wherein the holes were transferred via the redox reaction of Co/Co ions.

South Korea was the first Asian country to initiate a national LDCT lung cancer screening program, although CAC-related outcomes are poorly explored. The purpose of this article is to evaluate CAC prevalence and severity using visual analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) methods and to characterize CAC's association with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients undergoing LDCT in Korea's national lung cancer screening program.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of pretreatment ILA among prostate cancer patients who underwent abdominal computed tomography (CT) within 1 year at their first visit to the urology department. In addition, we aimed to assess the association between pretreatment ILA and long-term survival in prostate cancer patients.

Osteosarcopenia is a relatively new concept in geriatric medicine; however, it may increase the risk of fragility fractures, several morbidities and mortalities, and socioeconomic costs. Although resistance exercises and nutritional support-including protein, calcium, and vitamin D-are potential non-pharmacological management procedures, evidence is still lacking.

However, it has low electrical conductivity, restricting its applicability to electrochemical biosensors. This study used dielectrophoretic (DEP) force to control the movement and deformation of GO nanosheets to achieve high electrical conductivity without the chemical reduction of oxygen functional groups.

Aim: To facilitate the early diagnosis and etiology-specific treatment of adult-onset hypophosphatemic OM.
Methods: A retrospective review of medical records was performed to screen adult patients who visited a physiatry locomotive medicine clinic (spine and musculoskeletal pain clinic) primarily presenting with widespread musculoskeletal pain at a single tertiary hospital between January 2011 and December 2019.
Background: In this study, we aimed to compare the long-term therapeutic outcomes of drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) with those of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for the initial treatment of a single small (≤ 3 cm) hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: From January 2010 to December 2021, 259 consecutive patients who underwent DEB-TACE (67 patients) or RFA (192 patients) as a first-line treatment for a single small HCC were enrolled in this retrospective study. The therapeutic outcomes, including cumulative intrahepatic local tumor progression (LTP), progression-free survival (PFS), and long-term overall survival (OS) rates, were compared between the two groups before and after propensity score (PS) matching.
Due to its additional frequency response, dual-frequency ultrasound has advantages over conventional ultrasound, which operates at a specific frequency band. Moreover, a tunable frequency from a single transducer enables sonographers to achieve ultrasound images with a large detection area and high resolution. This facilitates the availability of more advanced techniques that simultaneously require low- and high-frequency ultrasounds, such as harmonic imaging and image-guided therapy.

In this study, we proposed a combination therapy of doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded ultrasound (US)-sensitive liposomal nanocarriers (IMP301), microbubbles (MBs) under focused US exposure using convex acoustic lens-attached US (LENS) to tumor treatment. The therapeutic effects of each treatment in a murine melanoma model were evaluated using contrast-enhanced US (CEUS) and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging, bioluminescence and confocal microscopy imaging, and liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy (LC/MS) analysis.

Retinal implants have been developed and implanted to restore vision from outer retinal degeneration, but their performance is still limited due to the poor spatial resolution. To improve the localization of stimulation, microelectrodes in various three-dimensional (3D) shapes have been investigated. In particular, computational simulation is crucial for optimizing the performance of a novel microelectrode design before actual fabrication.
