Background: Psittacosis is a zoonotic disease with a low incidence rate and a lack of specificity in clinical manifestations, making it prone to be missed, misdiagnosed, and even cause delayed treatment for patients. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) was successfully performed for the diagnosis of a young patient with psittacosis progressing to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and precisely targeted antibiotic treatment was promptly administered. Additionally, a comprehensive review was conducted on 68 cases of psittacosis complicated with ARDS, with the goal of improving the clinical awareness of this disease.

Interleukin-3 (IL-3) has been implicated in programming microglia to cluster and clear pathological aggregates in neurodegenerative disease. Yet, the influence of IL-3 on lipid debris clearance post-SCI is not well characterized.

Glutaminolysis and glycolysis promote the malignant progression of colorectal cancer. The role of activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) in solute carrier family 1 member 5 (SLC1A5)-mediated glutaminolysis and glycolysis remains to be elucidated. SLC1A5 and ATF4 expression levels are detected in colorectal cancer tissues.

Here, the presence of localized excitons in MoSe/CrSBr heterostructures is unveiled, represented by a new photoluminescence emission feature, X. Our findings reveal that X originates from excitons confined by intrinsic defects in the CrSBr layer.

However, the development of NIR-II photoagents remain challenging. In this study, an all-fused-ring quinoidal acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) molecule, SKCN, with a BTP core is synthesized, and nanoparticles named FA-SNPs are prepared.

However, MSCs exhibit greater heterogeneity limited stability, and more complex molecular and mechanistic characteristics compared to conventional drugs, making rapid and precise monitoring more challenging.
Methods: Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an ultrasensitive, tractable and low-cost fingerprinting technique capable of identifying a wide range of molecules related to biological processes.

This has made it challenging to understand drivers of long-term SLE outcomes. Our objective was to identify whether changes in DNA methylation over time, in an actively flaring SLE cohort, were associated with remission and whether these changes meaningfully subtype SLE patients.

Previous research has identified social anxiety and loneliness as influential contributors to mobile phone addiction, but the relationship between these three factors has not been extensively examined. The objective of this research was to investigate the role of loneliness in mediating the relationship between social anxiety and mobile phone addiction, as well as the moderating influence of sleep duration on the relationship between social anxiety, loneliness, and mobile phone addiction among nursing students.

Meanwhile, the predictive value of the abundance of SPP1 + macrophages in patients receiving immunotherapy remains debatable, indicating the potential existence of subtypes of SPP1 + macrophages with diverse biological functions.
Methods: The single cell RNA sequencing data of myeloid cells integrated from several cancers including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was analyzed for characterizing the function and cellular interactions of SPP1 + macrophages expressing SIRPα.
Background: Despite effective pneumococcal vaccines, pneumococcal disease (PD) exerts a substantial burden on children. This study explored the clinical and economic burden of invasive PD (IPD), non-invasive all-cause pneumonia (ACP), and acute otitis media (AOM) in hospitalized children.
Methods: Data from the BD Insights Research Database of hospitalized children (< 18 years, including infants and children) in the US were analyzed retrospectively.
Background: Retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RLPS) is a mesenchymal malignant tumor characterized by different degrees of adipocytic differentiation. Well-differentiated liposarcoma (WDLPS) and dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) are two of the most common subtypes of RLPS, exhibiting clear differences in biological behaviors and clinical prognosis. The metabolic features and genomic characteristics remain unclear.

However, TIA screening and early detection rates are low, especially in developing countries. This study aims to develop an inclusive and practical TIA risk prediction model using machine learning (ML) that performs well in both hospital and resource-limited clinic settings.

This study aimed to evaluate the perceptions of the medical education environment and learning autonomy in blended learning in pediatrics among clinical medicine students, as well as the relationship between these two constructs.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on clinical medical students from the First Clinical School of Wuhan University who had completed the blended learning courses of pediatrics.
Whether the addition of aromatase inhibitors (AIs) to recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) could yield additional benefit for short stature is controversial. We aimed to assess the effects of combined AIs and rhGH versus those of rhGH alone for short stature using a meta-analytic approach. The PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane library electronic databases were searched systematically for eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from inception until December 2021.
