It occurs most frequently in the metaphysis of long tubular bones, and an epiphyseal location is exceedingly rare. We present here an unusual case of a chondromyxoid fibroma that occurred in the epiphysis of the proximal tibia with an open growth plate.

This is only the fourth case to be reported in the English literature, all of which have involved the rib. Radiologically they all manifested as an expansive and radiolucent lesion and contained ill-defined areas of increased density or calcification.
