Background: There is enough evidence of the negative impact of excess weight on the formation and progression of res piratory pathology. Given the continuing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, it is relevant to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and the clinical features of the novel coronavirus infection (NCI).

Aim: To study the effect of BMI on the course of the acute SARS-COV-2 infection and the post-covid period.

Aim      To study the effect of regular drug therapy for cardiovascular and other diseases preceding the COVID-19 infection on severity and outcome of COVID-19 based on data of the ACTIVE (Analysis of dynamics of Comorbidities in paTIents who surVived SARS-CoV-2 infEction) registry.Material and methods  The ACTIVE registry was created at the initiative of the Eurasian Association of Therapists. The registry includes 5 808 male and female patients diagnosed with COVID-19 treated in a hospital or at home with a due protection of patients' privacy (data of nasal and throat smears; antibody titer; typical CT imaging features).

Production of novel polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), biodegradable polymers for biomedical applications, and biomaterials based on them is a promising trend in modern bioengineering. We studied the ability of an effective strain-producer 7B to synthesize not only poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) homopolymer (PHB) and its main copolymer poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), but also a novel copolymer, poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxy-4-methylvalerate) (PHB4MV). For the biosynthesis of PHB copolymers, we used carboxylic acids as additional carbon sources and monomer precursors in the chain of synthesized copolymers.

Popularization of the healthy way of life (HWL) at the medical institutes is a crucial problem, since on the one hand, the medical institute is to train good specialists in terms of their own health and, on the other hand, these specialists are to popularize the HWL among the community. The paper is a summary of the experience of 10 clinical departments of the Vladivostok Medical Institute, gained with popularization of the HWL. The purpose lies in the training of the specialists in the methodology and techniques by which the HWL is to be introduced in the consciousness of the community.

A total of 65 women in labor complicated with uterine inertia were investigated for tissue pO2 and cardiac performance of fetuses under the effect of oxytocin. The authors stated that the aggravation of fetal status in drug-induced labors resulted from poorer tissue oxygenation caused by the activation of uterine contractility. In this line, hypoxic changes of the fetus were more pronounced in pregnancies complicated by nephropathy or prolonged pregnancy.

The experience in using radiolymphography in the diagnosis of central lymph dynamics disorders in thoracic duct pathology has been analysed. For the first time in Soviet literature we encounter two observations over the state of lymph dynamics along the thoracic duct by means of lymphoscintigraphy with colloid 113mIn in patients with lymphangiectasia of the thoracic duct and chylothorax. In importance of lymphoscintigraphy in determining the compensatory mechanisms of the lymph flow in primary pathology of the main lymph collector is emphasized.

Voles from Yakutia and Chukotka were found to differ in the morphology of 3 pairs of autosomes and sex chromosomes, as well as in M3-structure and skull dimensions. This makes their conspecificity doubtful. A variation in short arm lengths of the X- and Y-chromosomes has been discovered.

The convened studies demonstrated an activation of the hypothalamo-hypophysis-adrenal and sympathico-adrenal system in the newborn with slight and moderately expressed forms of CNS lesions. At the same time there was a relative insufficiency of such functions in children with severe forms of CNS lesions. The achieved data permit to substantiate the pathogenetical therapy.
