Myoregulin is a recently discovered micropeptide that controls calcium levels by inhibiting the intracellular calcium pump sarco-endoplasmic reticulum Ca-ATPase (SERCA). Keeping calcium levels balanced in the heart is essential for normal heart functioning, thus myoregulin has the potential to be a crucial regulator of cardiac muscle performance by reducing the rate of intracellular Ca uptake. We provide the first report of myoregulin mRNA expression in human heart tissue, absence of expression in human plasma, and the effects of myoregulin on cardiac hemodynamics in an ex vivo Langendorff isolated rat heart model of ischemia/reperfusion.

Background: Illicit fentanyl has contributed to a drastic increase in overdose drug deaths. While fentanyl has subsumed the drug supply in the Northeastern and Midwestern USA, it has more recently reached the Western USA. For this study, we explored perspectives of people who use drugs (PWUD) on the changing drug supply in Oregon, experiences of and response to fentanyl-involved overdose, and recommendations from PWUD to reduce overdose risk within the context of illicit fentanyl's dramatic increase in the recreational drug supply over the past decade.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine COVID-19 vaccination acceptance and explore reasons for COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy among people who use drugs (PWUDs), a population with increased COVID-19 transmission and morbidity.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented significant challenges to face-to-face communication with people residing in post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings. Telemedicine is an alternative, but facility staff may be overburdened with the management of the equipment. Objective: Our goal was to define trigeminal nerve ending quantities and patterns in rat molar dentine, their responses to attrition (tooth wear), and their associated odontoblasts and connections with pulpal plexuses.

Design: Trigeminal ganglia were labeled for axonal transport of H-proteins to dentinal nerve endings in male rats (3-13 months old). Autoradiography detected radio-labeled dentinal tubules as indicators of nerve ending locations.

The rapid development of mega-constellations risks multiple tragedies of the commons, including tragedies to ground-based astronomy, Earth orbit, and Earth's upper atmosphere. Moreover, the connections between the Earth and space environments are inadequately taken into account by the adoption of a consumer electronic model applied to space assets. For example, we point out that satellite re-entries from the Starlink mega-constellation alone could deposit more aluminum into Earth's upper atmosphere than what is done through meteoroids; they could thus become the dominant source of high-altitude alumina.

A discriminatory dissolution model was built through DOE with multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and multiple linear regression (MLR) modeling to assess dissolution operational space for a highly water soluble immediate-release solid dosage drug product. In 2019, the University of South Carolina's Office for the Study of Aging (OSA) remodeled the curriculum for the nationally registered Dementia Dialogues program that delivers high-quality education to formal and informal caregivers of persons who exhibit signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). This study evaluated new knowledge acquired and program satisfaction by North and South Carolina program participants ( = 235) after completing updated modules.
