Screening for cerebral visual impairment: value of a CVI questionnaire.

The objective of the study was to investigate the screening utility of a questionnaire for cerebral visual impairment (CVI) by correlating the questionnaire with diagnostic tools such as the L94, the Test of Visual Perceptual Skills - Revised and the Visual Perception subtask of the Beery test of VisuoMotor Integration.The questionnaire consisted of 46 items, exploring different characteristics of CVI. We consecutively recruited 91 children.

Herniation through the foramen of Winslow. Report of two cases.

Purpose: Two clinical cases of internal herniation through the foramen of Winslow are presented. The first case concerns herniation of the cecum and ascending colon. In the second patient, the ileum was herniated through the foramen epiploicum.

Retrolental white mass.

From 1985 till 1990 twenty-three children aged seven weeks to six years presented with a retrolental white mass. Six children had retinoblastoma, six Coats' disease, five retinopathy of prematurity, four persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, one cysticercosis and one retinal detachment. Retinoblastoma and Coats' disease was only seen in children over eight months, whereas persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous and retinopathy of prematurity all presented before the age of six months.

"Optic neuritis": a masquerading disease.

Optic neuritis is a clinical entity with specific characteristics. Many disease can be associated with the symptomatology. We retrospectively selected the files of 16 persons out of 60 optic neuritis patients.
