Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) and L-arginine may protect against nephrotoxicity caused by cisplatin, a common chemotherapy drug, in rats.
  • Rats were treated with cisplatin and then given either NaHS, L-arginine, or both for 28 days, with various biological samples collected for analysis.
  • Results showed that both treatments improved kidney function and reduced oxidative stress markers, with the combination of NaHS and L-arginine providing the best protective effects against cisplatin toxicity.

This study analyzes the feasibility of putrescible components of municipal solid waste (PCMSW) such as food waste (FW) and yard waste (YW) for methane production in Pakistan. The batch experiments have been conducted at two different inoculums to substrate ratios (ISR) by using various inoculums under mesophilic condition. The highest methane yield of FW and YW is achieved to be 428 Nml g volatile solids (VS) added and 304 Nml g VS added respectively by using buffalo dung inoculum at ISR-5.

Cystadenoma lymphomatosum or Warthin's tumor of the parotid glands appears bilateral in 8-10% of cases, synchronous (rarely), metachronous (frequently) and sometimes with multicentric aspects. After the review of the epidemiological, pathogenetic, clinical, radiographic and histologic data, the authors present two cases of bilateral Warthin's tumor, metachronous (7 years), nodular-isolated in the first one and metachronous (5 years), nodular-multicentric in the second one. The patients after CAT scan and NMR examinations, and a fine needle aspiration biopsy were treated with superficial parotidectomy with preservation of the facial nerve.
