One step of the life cycle common to all rotaviruses (RV) studied so far is the formation of viroplasms, membrane-less cytosolic inclusions providing a microenvironment for early morphogenesis and RNA replication. Viroplasm-like structures (VLS) are simplified viroplasm models consisting of complexes of nonstructural protein 5 (NSP5) with the RV core shell VP2 or NSP2. We identified and characterized the domains required for NSP5-VP2 interaction and VLS formation.

Objective: Dandruff is a complex skin condition characterized by unpleasant itching and flaking of the scalp. It is primarily attributed to the over colonization of Malassezia yeasts such as Malassezia globosa and Malassezia restricta. Some studies also suggest the involvement of staphylococci bacteria in dandruff disease pathogenesis.

Emotional events are thought to have privileged access to attention and memory, consuming resources needed to encode competing emotionally neutral stimuli. However, it is not clear whether this detrimental effect is automatic or depends on the successful maintenance of the specific emotional object within working memory. Here, participants viewed everyday scenes including an emotional object among other neutral objects followed by a free-recollection task.

In infected cells rotavirus (RV) replicates in viroplasms, cytosolic structures that require a stabilized microtubule (MT) network for their assembly, maintenance of the structure and perinuclear localization. Therefore, we hypothesized that RV could interfere with the MT-breakdown that takes place in mitosis during cell division. Using synchronized RV-permissive cells, we show that RV infection arrests the cell cycle in S/G2 phase, thus favoring replication by improving viroplasms formation, viral protein translation, and viral assembly.

is a genus of lipid-dependent yeasts. It is associated with common skin diseases such as pityriasis versicolor and atopic dermatitis and can cause systemic infections in immunocompromised individuals. Owing to the slow growth and lipid requirements of these fastidious yeasts, convenient and reliable antifungal drug susceptibility testing assays for spp.

The advantages and applications of the videolaparoscopic technique (VL) versus open surgery in the treatment of acute and complicated appendicitis are not well defined. The aim of this study was to identify which of the two procedures is more suitable. The study examined 124 patients, 73 females (57.

Biliary stent migration occurs in about 5% of patients. The most common complications secondary to stent migration are pancreatitis, small bowel perforation and peritonitis. We report the case of a patient presenting with an abdominal wall abscess secondary to migration of a biliary stent.

Background: Pelvic floor repair is often unsuccessful for the treatment of incontinence. Some patients undergo repeated operations, and a few may require a stoma that can result in further operations.

Method: We have examined the cost of two forms of pelvic floor repair: post-anal repair (PAR; n = 47) and total pelvic floor repair (TPFR; n = 32).
