Introduction: The diversity of the United States population has increased drastically, yet minority enrollment in healthcare schools continues to be low. The annual Healthcare Diversity Summer Camp for underserved minority high school students with an interest in a future healthcare career was created to expose students to pharmacy, nursing, and dental medicine.

Methods: Camp participants completed pre- and post-surveys before and after attending the summer camp over four years to assess students' knowledge and confidence in pursuing a career in the healthcare field.

The aim of this systematic review and network meta-analysis is to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of N95, surgical/medical and non-medical facemasks as personal protective equipment against respiratory virus infection. The study incorporated 35 published and unpublished randomized controlled trials and observational studies investigating specific mask effectiveness against influenza virus, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. We searched PubMed, Google Scholar and medRxiv databases for studies published up to 5 February 2021 (PROSPERO registration: CRD42020214729).

Background: Internal Medicine (IM) programs offer elective subspecialty rotations in which residents may enroll to supplement the experience and knowledge obtained during general inpatient and outpatient rotations. Objective evidence that these rotations provide enhanced subspecialty specific knowledge is lacking. The purpose of this study was to determine whether exposure to an endocrinology subspecialty rotation enhanced a resident's endocrinology-specific knowledge beyond that otherwise acquired during IM residency.

The Role of LNK (SH2B3) in the Regulation of JAK-STAT Signalling in Haematopoiesis.

LNK is a member of the SH2B family of adaptor proteins and is a non-redundant regulator of cytokine signalling. To identify and review strategies reported in the literature for strengthening instruction about both health disparities and cultural competency (HDCC) within various portions of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum and co-curriculum. The classroom strategies reported in the literature for incorporating HDCC into the PharmD curriculum involved teaching a single course or series of courses in HDCC. Activities found to be effective in teaching HDCC were those that involved case-based and community engagement exercises.

Background: Currently, a small body of evidence suggests that sleep problems are positively associated with subjective cognitive complaints (SCC). However, no studies on this topic exist from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Thus, we investigated the association between sleep problems and SCC in a large sample of middle-age and older adults from 45 LMICs.

Image and structured data analysis for prognostication of health outcomes in patients presenting to the ED during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Patients admitted to the emergency department (ED) with COVID-19 symptoms are routinely required to have chest radiographs and computed tomography (CT) scans. COVID-19 infection has been directly related to the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and severe infections could lead to admission to intensive care and increased risk of death. The use of clinical data in machine learning models available at time of admission to ED can be used to assess possible risk of ARDS, the need for intensive care (admission to the Intensive Care Unit; ICU) as well as risk of mortality.

Vapor Cannabis Exposure Generationally Affects Male Reproductive Functions in Mice.

This study was performed to examine whether vapor exposure to cannabis plant matter negatively impacts male reproductive functions and testis development in mice. Adult CD-1 male mice (F0) were exposed to air (control) or 200 mg of vaporized cannabis plant matter 3×/day over a 10-day period. Subsequently, F0 males were bred with drug-naïve CD-1 females to generate F1 males, and F1 offspring were used to generate F2 males.

Clinical and cost-effectiveness of a New psychosocial intervention to support Independence in Dementia (NIDUS-family) for family carers and people living with dementia in their own homes: a randomised controlled trial.

Background: Most people living with dementia want to remain living in their own homes and are supported to do so by family carers. No interventions have consistently demonstrated improvements to people with dementia's life quality, functioning, or other indices of living as well as possible with dementia. We have co-produced, with health and social care professionals and family carers of people with dementia, a new intervention (NIDUS-family).

Examining the Effect of Perceived Responsibility on Online Bystander Intervention, Target Hardening, and Inaction.

Failure to take responsibility for intervening has been identified as a primary barrier to bystander intervention. Building on these findings, we examine how perceptions of responsibility affect responses to witnessing victimization in the online realm-a topic that has received limited attention. Using a maximum-likelihood selection model, we analyze data from the Pew American Trends Panel ( = 3709) to estimate the effects of respondents' perceptions of the role different groups should play in addressing online harassment on their likelihood to engage in intervention, target hardening, or inaction in response to witnessing online harassment, conditioned upon their likelihood of having witnessed such behavior.
