Introduction: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the miniplate application sites in the maxilla and the applied force vector changes during skeletally supported facemask application in adolescent patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) using finite element model (FEM) analysis.
Methods: A FEM was obtained from a cone-beam computed tomography image of a 12-year-old female patient with UCLP. Miniplates were placed on 3 different sites of the maxilla; 500 g of advancement force was applied bilaterally, parallel (0°), and downward (-30°) to the occlusal plane.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of the presence of subchorionic hematoma (SH) in early pregnancies with threatened miscarriage (TM) on levels of first-trimester maternal serum markers, pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A), and free β-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) levels.
Methods: The data of TM cases with SH in the first trimester between 2015 and 2021 were evaluated retrospectively. The data of age and gestational age-matched TM cases without SH were also assessed to constitute a control group.
The study examines the immobilization of the urease enzyme on a range of High Internal Phase Emulsion (polyHIPE) materials, assessing characteristics, efficiency, and performance. It also investigates the impact of polyHIPE type, quantity, incubation time, and various parameters on the process and enzyme activity. Surface morphology and functional groups of polyHIPE materials were determined through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analyses, revealing significant alterations after modification with polyglutaraldehyde (PGA).

Method Of Study: Between May 2019 and June 2020, we retrospectively enrolled 467 pregnant women who were followed from the first trimester to delivery in our hospital. We evaluated the sociodemographic characteristics, laboratory test results, SII values, Apgar scores, and newborn birth weights of pregnant women diagnosed with GDM.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the bacterial contamination of multi-use tear drops, gels, and ointments that patients use at home.
Method: A total of 271 multi-use containers used by 168 patients were examined. Conjunctival culture samples were obtained from patients who used tear drops, gels, and ointments that were found to be contaminated.
The high-salinity wastewater from the textile industry faces a significant challenge in effectively separating dyes and salts. In this study, a CeZnFe-layered double hydroxide (LDH)-incorporated nanofiltration (LNF) membrane was fabricated using the conventional interfacial polymerization (IP) technique to fractionate dyes and salts within the wastewater. The impact of CeZnFe LDH on various aspects of membrane performance was examined, including water flux, dye removal efficiency, dye/salt separation capability, self-cleaning ability, and membrane integrity.

Methods: Postmenopausal women who were seen at an outpatient clinic in a tertiary hospital for routine gynecologic examination between January 2017 and June 2022 were included in the study. Based on their T-scores, a total of 423 women were divided into two groups.
The nature of dependence between random variables has always been the subject of many statistical problems for over a century. Yet today, there is a great deal of research on this topic, especially focusing on the analysis of nonlinearity. Shannon mutual information has been considered to be the most comprehensive measure of dependence for evaluating total dependence, and several methods have been suggested for discerning the linear and nonlinear components of dependence between two variables.

Most of the studies attempting to measure concentration or dominance in a market employ the popular concentration/dominance indices like Herfindahl-Hirschmann, Hannah-Kay, Rosenbluth-Hall-Tidemann and Concentration ratio. On the other hand, measures of qualitative variation are closely related to entropy, diversity and concentration/dominance measures.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of pethidine on duration of active phase of labor, labor pain and maternal-neonatal outcomes.

In a subgroup of patients with PTC, the disease progresses to an invasive stage or in some cases to distant organ metastasis. At present, there is an unmet clinical and diagnostic need for early identification of patients with PTC who are at risk of disease progression or metastasis.

Until now, there was no available technique that can increase or decrease ion concentration in vivo in real time to change neural membrane potential. We introduce a method that we coin electro-ionic modulation (EIM), wherein ionic concentration around a nerve can be controlled in real time and in vivo.
