Interaction of the pre-organized complex of iron(II) trimethylacetate and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) [Fe(piv)(phen)] () (piv = (Me)CCO)) with 1,6-diaminohexane (dahx) in anhydrous acetonitrile yielded a 1D coordination polymer [FeO(piv)(dahx)] () and an organic salt of pivalic acid (Hdahx)(piv) (). The structure of the obtained compounds was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The phase purity of the complexes was determined by powder X-ray diffraction analysis.

Here, we present experimental data illustrating how heat load affects the performance of a cryogenically cooled monochromator under such conditions. The measurements are in good agreement with a depth-uniform model of X-ray dynamical diffraction taking beam absorption and heat deformation of the crystals into account.

It is shown that, in a quasi-PT-symmetric medium, in which an inhomogeneous spectral line width is much larger than the spectrum of investigated field, the exceptional-point (EP) condition is realized in a wide continuous frequency range, i.e.

These beneficial effects indicate the therapeutic potential of this compound in cardiovascular diseases. The goals of this work were to optimize the synthesis of peptide M, and to study its proteolytic stability and effect on the heart function of rabbits with doxorubicin (Dox) cardiomyopathy.

It is found that if the medium is quasi-parity-time (PT)-symmetric in the vicinity of the exceptional point, the propagation manifests strong unidirectional reflection and invisibility. Due to strong frequency selectivity, quasi-PT-symmetric periodic layers manifest efficient filtering of back-radiation.

However, low stability of L-PIK in a biological milieu prompts for development of more stable L-PIK analogues for use as experimental tools in basic and drug-oriented biomedical research.

For the experiments we made a transparent, high quality porous-quartz based 1D photonic crystal composed of 500 layers. We demonstrate that a selective compression of pulses is observed in this case, that is only one pulse from the pair is compressed, while the second one is broadened.

The objectives of this study were to provide a comprehensive echocardiographic assessment of cardiovascular physiology and to identify clinical, hematologic and cardiovascular risk factors for elevation of tricuspid regurgitation velocity in children and adults with Chuvash polycythemia.
Design And Methods: This cross-sectional observational study of 120 adult and pediatric VHL(R200W) homozygotes and 31 controls at outpatient facilities in Chuvashia, Russian Federation included echocardiography assessment of pulmonary artery pressure (tricuspid regurgitation velocity), cardiac volume, and systolic and diastolic function, as well as hematologic and clinical parameters.
The ability of novel cell-permeating peptide molecules derived from the peptide inhibitor of the myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) L-PIK (Arg-Lys-Lys-Tyr-Lys-Tyr-Arg-Arg-Lys) to inhibit this kinase in vitro and attenuate the thrombin-induced hyperpermeability of endothelial cell monolayer in culture has been studied. It was found that the compounds [NalphaMeArg1]-L-PIK and [Cit1]-L-PIK possess the inhibitory activity towards MLCK comparable to that of L-PIK and the ability to suppress the hyperpermeability of endothelium, whereas other modifications of L-PIK were less effective. Thus, among de novo synthesized peptides, [NalphaMeArg1]-L-PIK and [Cit1]-L-PIK demonstrate the inhibitory properties of the original peptide L-PIK and additionally surpass it by stability in blood plasma.

One of the potential MLCK inhibitors to be used in humans is a membrane permeable peptide H-RKKYKYRRK-NH2 (L-PIK). Nonapeptide H-Arg-Lys-Lys-Tyr-Lys-Tyr-Arg-Arg-Lys-NH2 corresponding to a modified sequence of autoinhibitory region of myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) was synthesized from L-amino acids and from D-amino acids. Using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy it has been demonstrated that D-peptide is significantly more stable in human blood plasma than its L-enantiomer. D-peptide accumulated in cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells suppressed development of hyperpermeability in endothelial monolayer induced by thrombin addition.

A solution of the problem of dynamical diffraction for X-ray pulses with arbitrary dimensions in the Bragg and Laue cases in a crystal of any thickness and asymmetry coefficient of reflection is presented. Analysis of pulse form and duration transformation in the process of diffraction and propagation in a vacuum is conducted. It is shown that only the symmetrical Bragg case can be used to avoid smearing of reflected pulses.

We analyze theoretically and study experimentally the mechanisms of enhancement of the sum frequency and second harmonic generation in a finite one-dimensional photonic band gap structure with second order nonlinearity under Bragg diffraction conditions. It is shown that, near the photonic band gap edge, the efficiency of conversion in sum frequency and second harmonic generation processes can be significantly enhanced if two conditions are fulfilled simultaneously: grating assisted phase matching, or quasiphase matching, and an increase of the electromagnetic field density at the fundamental frequencies near the photonic band edges. The role of each mechanism is discussed.
