Ultrasound-guided thoracic nerve blocks for emergency department patients with rib fractures: A review.

Background: Rib fractures are frequently diagnosed and treated in the emergency department (ED). Thoracic trauma has serious morbidity and mortality, particularly in older adults, with complications including pulmonary contusions, hemorrhage, pneumonia, or death. Bedside ED-performed ultrasound-guided anesthesia is gaining in popularity, and early and adequate pain control has shown improved patient outcomes with rare complications.

Carotid body tumor: characteristics and surgical outcome.

Background: Carotid body tumors are uncommon neuroendocrine growths near the carotid bifurcation. While some advocate preoperative embolization to minimize bleeding, others avoid it due to complications. This study shares the experience of a single center in managing patients with carotid body tumors without practicing preoperative embolization.

Carcinoma arising from thyroglossal duct remnants.

Thyroglossal duct cysts (TGDCs) are unusual remnants of the thyroid gland that are rarely observed in association with carcinoma. The present study aimed to showcase the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and management of patients with TGDC carcinoma. It was a single-center study conducted from February 2016 to February 2020.

Granulomatous mastitis masking ductal carcinoma in situ: A case report with literature review.

Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is a rare inflammatory disorder that infrequently occurs with synchronous breast carcinoma. The present study reports the case of a patient who was initially diagnosed with recurrent GM, which eventually proved to be masking an underlying ductal carcinoma (DCIS).
