N-Methyladenosine (m6A) is the predominant internal RNA modification in eukaryotic messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and plays a crucial role in mRNA stability. Here, using human cells, we reveal that m6A sites in the coding sequence (CDS) trigger CDS-m6A decay (CMD), a pathway that is distinct from previously reported m6A-dependent degradation mechanisms. Importantly, CDS m6A sites act considerably faster and more efficiently than those in the 3' untranslated region, which to date have been considered the main effectors.

Sci-ModoM: a quantitative database of transcriptome-wide high-throughput RNA modification sites.

We present Sci-ModoM, the first next-generation RNome database offering a holistic view of the epitranscriptomic landscape. Sci-ModoM has a simple yet powerful interface, underpinned by FAIR data principles, a standardized nomenclature, and interoperable formats, fostering the use of common standards within the epitranscriptomics community. Sci-ModoM provides quantitative measurements per site and dataset, enabling users to assess confidence levels based on score, coverage, and stoichiometry.

Evaluating chronic disease approaches to ameliorate tobacco-related health disparities: Study protocol of a hybrid type 1 implementation-effectiveness trial.

Background: Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities experience higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease and related chronic conditions compared to White communities due to disparities in tobacco exposure. Smoking can be effectively treated but evidence-based treatments are less likely to be offered to or used by BIPOC patients. We present the study protocol of the Smoking Cessation Outreach for Racial Equity (SCORE) trial that tests the effect of adding longitudinal care coordination to current standard of care for smoking cessation to promote health equity among BIPOC patients.

Opioid Use Disorder Treatment in Sexually and Gender Diverse Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

This study assesses differences in opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment among sexually and gender diverse (SGD) vs non-SGD people. Using electronic health record data from a federally qualified health center, this retrospective cohort study explores OUD treatment for adults with an OUD diagnosis, as well as any clinic visit from January 2013 until June 2021 (N = 1,133), through review of medication prescriptions for OUD and OUD-related visits. Patients identifying as lesbian/gay had the lowest prevalence of OUD, with 1% (n = 231) of lesbian/gay patients having an OUD diagnosis, as compared to 1.

Patient Experiences With Group Teletherapy for the Treatment of Mental Illness: A Qualitative Study.

Objective: The authors sought to understand patient experiences with group teletherapy to inform improvements in service delivery.

Methods: From December 2022 to October 2023, semistructured interviews were conducted with 20 adults with depression or bipolar disorder who had received outpatient group teletherapy in the past 2 years. A rapid thematic analysis was conducted by using a matrix to identify patterns and synthesize data.

Adapting behavioral activation for patients receiving medications for opioid use disorder in primary care: a pilot study.

Introduction: Effective adjunctive therapeutic treatments for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) on medication for OUD (MOUD) in primary care settings are needed to address high rates of mental illness and stress. Behavioral activation (BA) is a brief, evidence-based therapy that has potential to improve quality of life in people with OUD. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of values-based BA (VBA) as an adjunct treatment for patients receiving MOUD in primary care.

Background: Combined Immuno-chemotherapy consisting of gemcitabine, cisplatin and the programmed death-ligand one inhibitor durvalumab (GCD) is the new standard of care for patients with biliary tract cancers (BTC) based on positive results of the TOPAZ-1 study.

Objective: We here evaluated the efficacy and safety of GCD for BTC in a German multicenter real-world patient cohort.

These intrinsic traveling waves (iTWs) may arise from the coordination of synaptic activity through long-range feature-dependent horizontal connectivity within cortical areas. In a spiking network model that incorporates feature-selective patchy connections, we observe iTW motifs that result from shifts in excitatory/inhibitory balance as action potentials traverse these patchy connections.
