Quantifying precision error for DXA, peripheral QCT (pQCT), and HR-pQCT is crucial for monitoring longitudinal changes in body composition and musculoskeletal outcomes. Agreement and associations between bone variables assessed using pQCT and second-generation HR-pQCT are unclear. This study aimed to determine the precision of, and agreement and associations between, bone variables assessed via DXA, pQCT, and second-generation HR-pQCT.

Purpose: Treating stage II endometrial cancer involves total hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and risk-adapted adjuvant therapy. Professional guidelines support various adjuvant treatments, but high-level data supporting specific options are conflicting. We sought to evaluate adjuvant radiation therapy (RT) trends for these patients, hypothesizing increased utilization of pelvic external beam RT (EBRT) over time.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) has a median survival of <2 years. Pexidartinib (PLX3397) is a small-molecule inhibitor of CSF1R, KIT, and oncogenic FTL3, which are implicated in GBM treatment resistance. Results from glioma models indicate that combining radiation therapy (RT) and pexidartinib reduces radiation resistance.

Unlabelled: This study demonstrates how complex bone microarchitectural features can be summarized to describe bone adaptations seen with aging in women, which are consistent with the stages of osteoporosis. Additionally, we showed familial resemblance in these bone microarchitectural traits between mothers and daughters that can be used to predict bone adaptations.

Introduction: Patient-specific characterization of bone quality can reduce complex microarchitectural features to common combinations of bone characteristics, known as bone phenotypes.

Porphyrin-based porous materials are of growing interest as heterogeneous catalysts especially for reactions that are of importance to sustainability. Here we demonstrate that porous molecular crystals can be prepared by the simple co-crystallisation of tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) with octa(2',6'-di-iso-propylphenoxy)phthalocyanine or some of its metal complexes [(dipPhO)PcM; M=H, Al-OH, Ti=O, Mn-Cl, Fe-Cl, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga-Cl, Ag, In-Cl or Au-Cl]. This process is facilitated by the efficient formation of the supramolecular heterodimer between TPP and (dipPhO)PcM, which is driven by the complementary shape and symmetry of the two macrocycles.

DXA-derived reference data for visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and advanced hip analysis (AHA) parameters spanning the entire adult lifespan are limited. The purpose of this study was to develop age-, site- and sex-specific reference data for dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) -derived body composition, trabecular bone score (TBS) and advanced hip analysis (AHA) parameters across the adult lifespan. Adults (N = 908; female: 561 and male: 347) from Calgary and the surrounding area over the age of 20 years participated in this study.

Standard microarchitectural analysis of bone using micro-computed tomography produces a large number of parameters that quantify the structure of the trabecular network. Analyses that perform statistical tests on many parameters are at elevated risk of making Type I errors. However, when multiple testing correction procedures are applied, the risk of Type II errors is elevated if the parameters being tested are strongly correlated.

Objective: Surgical resection is the mainstay of treatment for WHO grade 2 meningioma. Fractionated radiation therapy (RT) is frequently used after surgery, though many centers utilize stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for recurrence or progression. Herein, we report disease control outcomes from an institutional cohort with adjuvant fractionated RT versus salvage SRS.

Objectives: Ineffective nurse-to-nurse handoff communication is associated with information omissions, diagnostic errors, treatment errors, and delays. New nurses report a lack of confidence and ability in handoff communication, which may stem from inadequate training in prelicensure nursing programs. Our objective was to introduce prelicensure nursing students to a standardized, theory-based method for handoff, including behavioral strategies employed by nurses during interrupted handoff.

Preclinical simulation is an evidence-based method for nurse practitioner (NP) students to improve clinical communication and disease management competency. During simulation, students may receive feedback from multiple sources, including standardized patients (SPs), faculty, peers, and themselves. Although evidence supports simulation with multisource feedback, its impact on clinical knowledge and communication has yet to be evaluated among NP students.

Introduction: High resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT) imaging protocol requires defining where to position the ∼1 cm thick scan along the bone length. Discrepancies between the use of two positioning methods, the relative and fixed offset, may be problematic in the comparison between studies and participants. This study investigated how bone landmarks scale linearly with length and how this scaling affects both positioning methods aimed at providing a consistent anatomical location for scan acquisition.

The μ-carbido complex [WPt(μ-C)Br(CO)(PPh)(Tp*)] (Tp = hydrotris(dimethylpyrazolyl)borate) undergoes substitution of one phosphine ligand with isonitriles to afford complexes [WPt(μ-C)Br(CNR)(CO)(PPh)(Tp*)] (R = Bu, CHMe-2,6, CHMe-2,4,6). For aryl but not alkyl isocyanides disubstitution follows to afford [WPt(μ-C)Br(CNR)(CO)(Tp*)] (R = CHMe-2,6, CHMe-2,4,6). The bis(isonitrile) derivatives, including [WPt(μ-C)Br(CNBu)(CO)(Tp*)], may also be prepared from the reactions of -[Pt(CNR)] with [W(CBr)(CO)(Tp*)].
