Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the effect of phenytoin on tissue healing in gastric sleeve surgery, focusing on preventing staple line leakage, a serious complication.
  • - Researchers analyzed how phenytoin impacts bursting pressure at the staple line and examined gene expressions related to healing in rats, revealing significant improvements in collagen and epithelialization scores in the treated group.
  • - The findings suggest that phenytoin enhances the healing process after gastric sleeve surgery and could potentially serve as a new preventive treatment for gastric leaks in humans.

Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluated the impact of adding platelet-rich plasma to laser pilonidoplasty for treating pilonidal sinus in two groups of 25 patients each.
  • Results showed no significant differences in hospital stay, procedure time, or complication rates between the groups; however, the group receiving platelet-rich plasma had a significantly shorter wound healing time (4.1 weeks) compared to the control group (6.1 weeks).
  • The study concluded that platelet-rich plasma application alongside laser pilonidoplasty effectively reduces the healing time for patients undergoing treatment for pilonidal sinus.
