Background: Black men are more likely to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (T2D) compared to non-Hispanic White men, especially those over 55 years of age. Although there is ample evidence around the efficacy of peer-led diabetes self-management and support (PLDSMS) programs in improving diabetes health outcomes, Black men living with T2D experience several barriers to meaningful participation in peer-led programs and program developers face barriers to implementation. This qualitative study aimed to identify perspectives from collaborators on barriers and facilitators that impact the implementation of a PLDSMS intervention for older Black men with T2D.

Recent work has developed and adapted algorithms to predict time-consuming and costly laboratory circadian phase measurements using mathematical models with actigraphy or other wearable data. Here, we validate and extend these results in a home-based cohort of later-life adults, ranging in age from 58 to 86 years.

Introduction: Individuals experiencing housing instability face significant health inequities. Addressing housing instability requires an understanding of the factors that contribute to these inequities-a responsibility that has been assumed by community-based organizations. Interviewing individuals from 3 Canadian provinces, the present study aimed to examine the perspectives of individuals from front-line services of the social determinants of health (SDoH) needs of individuals experiencing housing instability.

Tolerance of ambiguity (TOA) relates to how individuals navigate uncertainty. It is associated with psychological well-being in health professionals yet has been little investigated in veterinarians or veterinary pathologists.

This study aimed to examine longitudinal mood symptoms in individuals with bipolar type I and II, and healthy controls to determine if seasonal patterns were present and to validate the Global Seasonality Score as a measure of seasonality.
Methods: Participants from the Prechter Longitudinal Study of Bipolar Disorder were included.
The Washington State Department of Health developed an equitable funding allocation methodology incorporating quantitative and qualitative decision-making components. We describe the methodology and an implementation evaluation performed by an external evaluation team using the RE-AIM (Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance) evaluation framework. The evaluation team concluded that the methodology was developed in a way that used a racial equity lens and prioritized intersectionalities in the communities that the funding was intended to serve.

Given converging evidence linking late chronotype with poor mental health, the goal of the present study was to examine chronotype (in)stability and its relation to mood symptoms over time.
Methods: Participants with BD I (n = 271), BD II (n = 88), and healthy controls (n = 217) were included (follow-up=10 years, Range=5-15) from the Prechter Longitudinal Study.

Background: Immune and cognitive dysfunction persists even in virally suppressed women with HIV (VS-WWH). Since inflammation and HIV proteins induce the enzyme indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), converting tryptophan (T) to kynurenine (K) while producing downstream neurotoxic metabolites, we investigated IDO activation (KT ratio) in relation to cognition in VS-WWH and demographically similar women without HIV (WWoH).
Methods: Ninety-nine VS-WWH on stable antiretroviral therapy and 102 WWoH (median age 52 vs 54 years; 73% vs 74% Black, respectively) from the New York and Chicago sites of the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS) completed a neuropsychological test battery assessing motor function, processing speed, attention/working memory, verbal fluency, verbal learning and memory, and executive function and had plasma measured for tryptophan-kynurenine metabolites through liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and monocyte-derived [soluble cluster of differentiation-14 (sCD14), soluble cluster of differentiation-163 (sCD163), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1)] plus general inflammatory markers [tumor necrosis factor alpha-2 receptor (TNF-R2), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, high-sensitivity interleukin-6] through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays between 2017 and 2020.
Mindfulness witnessed a substantial popularity surge in the past decade, especially as digitally self-administered interventions became available at relatively low costs. Yet, it is uncertain whether they effectively help reduce stress. In a preregistered (OSF https://doi.

Sleep disturbances are prevalent in women with HIV (WWH). Tryptophan-kynurenine (T-K) pathway metabolites are associated with alterations in actigraphy derived sleep measures in WWH, although may not always correlate with functional impairment. We investigated the relationship between T-K pathway metabolites and self-reported daytime dysfunction in WWH and women without HIV (WWoH).

Methods: In this randomized, controlled, double-blind trial, 40 adults with delayed sleep-wake phase disorder were randomly assigned to 4 weeks of 0.5 mg timed to be administered either 3 hours before the DLMO (measured DLMO group, n = 20) or 5 hours before sleep-onset time per actigraphy (estimated DLMO group, n = 20), in conjunction with behavioral interventions.
The present study examined rates of sleep disorders and sleep medication use, and predictors of sleep disturbance in children with persistent tic disorders (PTD). Sixty-three parents of children aged 10 to 17 years with PTDs completed an internet survey evaluating sleep patterns and clinical symptoms. Insomnia (19.

Purpose: To evaluate subjective predictions of 6-month outcome by clinicians' for ICH patients in a neurocritical care using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and compare these to actual 6-month outcome.
Background: With growing rates of unregulated drug toxicity death and concerns regarding COVID-19 transmission among people who use drugs, in March 2020, prescribed safer supply guidance was released in British Columbia. This study describes demographic and substance use characteristics associated with obtaining prescribed safer supply and examines the association between last 6-month harm reduction service access and obtaining prescribed safer supply.
Methods: Data come from the 2021 Harm Reduction Client Survey administered at 17 harm reduction sites across British Columbia.
The dim light melatonin onset (DLMO) is the current gold standard biomarker of the timing of the central circadian clock in humans and is often assessed from saliva samples. To date, only one commercially available salivary melatonin assay is considered accurate at the low daytime levels required to accurately detect the DLMO (Novolytix RIA RK-DSM2). The aim of this study was to conduct the first independent evaluation of a newly improved enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA; Novolytix MLTN-96) and compare it with the recommended radioimmunoassay (RIA)-both in terms of melatonin concentrations and derived DLMOs.
