Purpose: The aim of this retrospective cohort study was to investigate the long-term outcome of metal- and all-ceramic resin-bonded fixed dental prosthesis (RBFDP) up to 17 years, and to evaluate potential factors influencing the risk for complications.

Methods: Patients who were treated with RBFDP to replace teeth in the anterior or first premolar region in an university setting were identified from electronic records. Data collection comprised dental and periodontal parameters, periapical radiographs, and assessment of the RBFDP.

Background: The Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) Composite (PSI 90) of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has been found to have low positive predictive values. Because scores can affect hospital reimbursement and ranking, our institution designed a review process to ensure accurate data and incur minimal penalties under the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program.

Methods: A multidisciplinary team was assembled to review PSI 90 within a performance period.

The Northwest Atlantic marine ecosystem off Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, has been commercially exploited for centuries. Although periodic declines in various important commercial fish stocks have been observed in this ecosystem, the most drastic changes took place in the early 1990s when the ecosystem structure changed abruptly and has not returned to its previous configuration. In the Northwest Atlantic, food web dynamics are determined largely by capelin (Mallotus villosus), the focal forage species which links primary and secondary producers with the higher trophic levels.

Avian pox is an enveloped double-stranded DNA virus that is mechanically transmitted via arthropod vectors or mucosal membrane contact with infectious particles or birds. Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) from two colonies (Punta Tombo and Cabo Dos Bahías) in Argentina showed sporadic, nonepidemic signs of avian pox during five and two of 29 breeding seasons (1982-2010), respectively. In Magellanic Penguins, avian pox expresses externally as wart-like lesions around the beak, flippers, cloaca, feet, and eyes.

The self- and mutual radiation impedances and the farfield directional response of rectangular pistons conformal to a rigid elliptic cylindrical baffle are formulated. The pistons are assumed to vibrate with uniform normal velocity and the solution for the acoustic pressure is expressed in terms of a modal series representation in Mathieu functions. The Mathieu functions are obtained using computer programs that have been recently developed to provide accurate values of the functions at high frequencies.

The self and mutual radiation impedances for rectangular piston(s) arbitrarily located on a rigid prolate spheroidal baffle are formulated. The pistons are assumed to vibrate with uniform normal velocity and the solution is expressed in terms of a modal series representation in spheroidal eigenfunctions. The prolate spheroidal wave functions are obtained using computer programs that have been recently developed to provide accurate values of the wave functions at high frequencies.

Interpersonal theorists assume that the greater the discrepancy between a person's own assessment of his or her interpersonal style and the perceptions of others, the greater will be that individual's reported psychological distress. In the present study, 32 U.S.

Transient cerebral ischemic attacks (TIA) are an important warning symptom of threatening stroke from cerebral infarction (CI). A local treatment program aimed at identifying as many individuals with TIA as possible and treating them in a uniform manner is desirable. Platelet aggregation inhibitors with a combination of acetylsalicylic acid and dipyridamole (ASA + DP) has been compared with anticoagulants (AC).

An isoquinolone derivative Ro 8-4650 (rac-4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-7-methoxy-2-methylisoquinoline hydrochloride) with dopaminergic properties was studied in a randomized crossover trial. The group studied comprised 37 patients with idiopathic parkinsonism, not previously treated with levodopa or dopamin agonists. The trial drug was significantly more effectve than placebo, but the clinical improvement, according to the Webster rating scale, was small.
