The Activin-A precursor dimer can be cleaved by furin, but how this proteolytic maturation is regulated in vivo and how it facilitates access to signaling receptors is unclear. Here, analysis in a syngeneic melanoma grafting model shows that without furin coexpression, Activin-A failed to accelerate tumor growth, correlating with failure of one or both subunits to undergo cleavage in signal-sending cells, even though compensatory processing by host cells nonetheless sustained elevated circulating Activin-A levels. In reporter assays, furin-independent cleavage of one subunit enabled juxtacrine Activin-A signaling, whereas completion of proteolytic maturation by coexpressed furin or by recipient cells stimulated contact-independent activity, crosstalk with BMP receptors, and signal inhibition by follistatin.

Methods: Eleven adult patients who underwent only MA surgery and twelve adult patients who underwent Le Fort I maxillary impaction-MA surgery (2-JS) were included in the retrospective study. A total of 46 cephalometric recordings obtained before (T1) and after treatment (T2) were examined.
Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effects of 45S5 bioactive glass-ointment (BG) on cutaneous wound healing in rats at the molecular, biochemical, and histopathological levels.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-two rats were divided into four groups (n = 8): Control, Sham, BG, and DEX (Dexpanthenol). While no wound treatment was applied to the CONTROL, a wound model was created in the Sham, and no treatment was applied.
Purpose: This study had two main goals: to determine which rhabdomyolysis patients need haemodialysis; and to highlight the significance of blood gas parameters, particularly base excess, as predictors of the need for haemodialysis.
Method: A total of 270 patients were included in this multicentre, retrospective study. Among the patients who were transferred in from the earthquake region and developed rhabdomyolysis, those with creatine kinase (CK) values >1000 U/L were included in our study.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prevalent and debilitating neurodegenerative disease that leads to substantial loss of quality of life. Therapies currently available for AD do not modify the disease course and have limited efficacy in symptom control.
