In this study, we present the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using a completely green synthesis method without the use of any additional functionalizing agent, except dried turmeric root extract. The significant synthesis parameters were optimized, and the applicability of AuNPs was investigated in areas such as plasmonic and fluorescent sensing of aluminum (Al⁺) and chromium (Cr⁺) ions, reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), and degradation of methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dyes. Characterization studies were performed using UV-Vis spectroscopy, TEM, FTIR, and XRD, revealing that the AuNPs predominantly had a spherical morphology and a very small particle size of 8.

The solvothermal approach was used to create a novel Eu metal-organic framework (Eu-MOF) based on 1,4-benzendicarboxylic acid (TPA), 1,10-phenanthroline, and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF)/HO. Structural analysis of Eu-MOF, Fluorescence spectrometry, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) mapping, Thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Single Crystal X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD) methods. Using the fluorescence properties of the synthesized Eu-MOF, its use as a fluorescence sensor in the determination of different analytes, such as organic molecules (T3-T4 hormone, ascorbic acid, and glucose) and metal ions (Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cu, Mn, Hg, Pb, Ni, Cr, Al, Fe), was investigated.

In this study, Amberlite CG-120 adsorbent was used for the separation/preconcentration of Ni(II) ions in commercial drinking, spring and lake water samples before detection by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Various optimization parameters for Ni(II) determination, such as pH, eluent type and concentration, sample and eluent flow rates, amount of adsorbent, were investigated to obtain better sensitivity, accuracy, precision and quantitative recovery. Furthermore, the interference effects of some ions on the recovery efficiency of Ni(II) were also investigated.
