Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined the effectiveness of three types of nasal irrigation sprays in 1,700 adults with allergic rhinitis, comparing hypertonic nasal spray, algae-containing hypertonic nasal spray, and isotonic saline nasal spray over a 3-week period.
  • - Results showed that the hypertonic sprays (both types) significantly improved symptom and quality of life scores compared to the saline group, which only showed minor improvements in turbinate condition.
  • - Both hypertonic sprays resulted in lower total symptom scores and improved quality of life, indicating they could be valuable additions to standard allergic rhinitis treatment.

Although it is widely used, there is still no valid treatment for ototoxicity caused by the antineoplastic drug cisplatin. In this study, we aimed to investigate the efficacy of intratympanic resveratrol and intratympanic dexamethasone treatment in cisplatin-induced ototoxicity. We also compared intratympanic atosiban (oxytocin antagonist) and oxytocin in cisplatin ototoxicity.

Background: We investigated the relationship between Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) and maxillary sinus mucosal thickness (MSMT), inferior turbinate mucosal thickness (ITMT), inferior turbinate width (ITW) and nasal septal body thickness (NSBT), which can be signs of chronic rhinosinusitis and allergic rhinitis.

Methods: The study, which included 87 patients, was designed as two groups. While 42 of the patients were included in the Laryngopharyngeal Reflux group, 45 were included in the control group.

Let-down technique, in which high septal strip resection is performed, and conventional rhinoplasty using autospreader flaps were compared regarding nasal functions with Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation (NOSE) and Sinonasal Outcome Test-22 (SNOT-22) quality-of-life scale questionnaires. A total of 54 patients who were included in the study were divided into two groups: group 1 (autospreader group;  = 27) and group 2 (let-down group;  = 27). Open technical septorhinoplasty operation using an autospreader flap was performed in group 1.

Ototoxicity is the general name of cochlear and vestibular organ injury resulting from encountering various therapeutic agents and chemical substances. Cisplatin is commonly used in the treatment of many cancers. In this study, the efficacy of intratympanic steroids was compared for preventing cisplatin ototoxicity.

Purpose: The main aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of intratympanic administration of dexamethasone and resveratrol in preventing cisplatin ototoxicity by measuring acoustic brainstem response (ABR) and distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE).

Methods: Forty rats (80 ears) were divided into five groups. Cisplatin was administered intraperitoneally to the first group (n = 8).
