Utilization of machine learning models in predicting caries risk groups and oral health-related risk factors in adults.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyse the risk factors that affect oral health in adults and to evaluate the success of different machine learning algorithms in predicting these risk factors.

Methods: This study included 2000 patients aged 18 years and older who were admitted to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Gaziantep University, between September and December 2023. In this study, patients completed a 30-item questionnaire designed to assess the factors that affect the decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT).

A comparison of hernia sac ligation versus invagination in Lichtenstein tension-free mesh hernioplasty: does the type of hernia play a role in outcomes?

Background: Management of the indirect hernial sac in inguinal hernia repairs has long been a subject of debate among general surgeons. Although hernial sac high ligation (HL) is a time-honored concept in groin hernia surgery, non-ligation/invagination is gaining popularity. This study was intended to compare the effects of hernia sac ligation and invagination in patients undergoing Lichtenstein mesh hernioplasty (LMH).

Cortex sparing laparoscopic adrenalectomy in a patient with Conn's syndrome.

Conn's syndrome, an aldosterone producing adenoma, is a surgically curable cause of primary aldosteronism, classically treated by unilateral adrenalectomy. With the advent of laparoscopic surgery in the recent decade, laparoscopic adrenalectomy is currently accepted as the gold standard of treatment for Conn's syndrome. Cortical sparing adrenalectomy is especially an ideal operation for patients with bilateral pheochromocytoma.

Efficacy of ultrasonography in identification of non-recurrent laryngeal nerve.

Background: The aim of this prospective study was to identify the arterial anomalies constantly associated with nonrecurrent inferior laryngeal nerve by preoperative ultrasonography and impact on recurrent inferior laryngeal nerve palsy (RILN).

Method: The study included 332 patients who underwent thyroidectomy or parathyroidectomy between 2009 February and 2011 October. Preoperative ultrasonography was performed to all patients to identify vascular anomalies related to NRILN.
