There is an increasing awareness that B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2)-associated athanogene (BAG) proteins play critical roles in maintaining neural homeostasis, and that their dysregulation contributes to neurological disorders. This protein family of nine members is evolutionarily conserved, with each member having at least one BAG domain that binds to the nucleotide-binding domains of Heat Shock Protein (Hsp) 70 family members. Collectively, these proteins are essential for the proper functioning of the central nervous system (CNS).

Background: Auditory dysfunction, including central auditory hyperactivity, hearing loss and hearing in noise deficits, has been reported in 5xFAD Alzheimer's disease (AD) mice, suggesting a causal relationship between amyloidosis and auditory dysfunction. Central auditory hyperactivity correlated in time with small amounts of plaque deposition in the inferior colliculus and medial geniculate body, which are the auditory midbrain and thalamus, respectively. Increased Mortality of Black Incarcerated and Hospitalized People: a Single State Cohort Analysis.

Objective: To quantify racial disparities in mortality and post-hospitalization outcomes among incarcerated individuals that were hospitalized during their incarceration period.

Methods: We designed a retrospective cohort study using administrative and hospital data collected from a preferred healthcare referral center for all Massachusetts jails and prisons between January 2011 and December 2018 with linkage to Massachusetts Vital Records and Statistics. We identified 4260 incarcerated individuals with complete data on race/ethnicity that were hospitalized during the study period.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic had an unprecedented effect on those living and working in care-homes for older people, as residents were particularly vulnerable to contracting the SARS-CoV-2 virus, associated with high morbidity and mortality. Often undervalued, care-home nurses (RNs) are leaders, managing complex care while working in isolation from their professional peers. The pandemic made this more apparent, when care and treatments for COVID-19 were initially unknown, isolation increased due to withdrawal of many professional health services, accompanied by staff shortages.

Newcastle disease (ND) is a highly contagious viral disease that constantly threatens poultry production. The velogenic (highly virulent) form of ND inflicts the most damage and can lead to 100% mortality in unvaccinated village chicken flocks. This study sought to characterize responses of local chickens in Ghana after challenging them with lentogenic and velogenic Newcastle disease virus (NDV) strains.
