Resveratrol is a natural polyphenol derived from plants such as grapes and berries. In addition to its role in plants during injury and infection, various cardioprotective, neuroprotective, and longevity-promoting effects were reported in diverse model organisms. Objectives: We performed a single-centre retrospective study comparing the accuracy of non-invasive elastography with liver biopsy in accurate assessment of Fontan-associated liver disease.

Methods: Fontan patients who underwent combined assessment with a percutaneous liver biopsy and non-invasive elastography between January 2015 and December 2023 at our Children's hospital were included. Liver biopsies were classified using the Congestive Hepatic Fibrosis Score as early Fontan-associated liver disease (scores 1, 2) and advanced Fontan-associated liver disease (score 3/bridging fibrosis and score 4/cirrhosis).

Background: Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are vascular malformations that are more commonly found intracranially, followed by the head, neck, limbs, and trunk. Extracranially, AVMs can mimic peripheral nerve tumors, leading to misdiagnosis.

Observations: A 19-year-old female, who presented with left lateral lower leg pain, was preoperatively thought to have a peripheral nerve tumor; at surgery, however, she was found to have an extracranial AVM.

Objectives: Septorhinoplasty (SRPL) can improve quality of life (QoL) in functional and aesthetical aspects of the nose. A key factor compromising postoperative satisfaction is symptoms of body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), defined by excessive concerns and distress over slight or imagined physical defects. Although a high prevalence of BDD in SRPL patients is evident, the effect of positive screening on BDD and other psychiatric disorders is understudied.

Purpose: Risk assessment of disease recurrence in pT1 colorectal cancer is crucial in order to select the appropriate treatment strategy. The study aimed to develop a prediction model, based on histopathological data, for the probability of disease recurrence and residual disease in patients with pT1 colorectal cancer.

Methods: The model dataset consisted of 558 patients with pT1 CRC who had undergone endoscopic resection only (n = 339) or endoscopic resection followed by subsequent bowel resection (n = 219).

Pharmacological and genetic approaches show that long-chain PUFA synthesis and lipoxygenase-derived LM are essential for the BCG-induced trained immunity responses of human monocytes.
