Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) approved for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis, is widely used, though real-world data on its application in asthma management remain limited. This registry-based study evaluated the use of montelukast in adult asthma patients, examining demographic and disease characteristics, asthma control status, asthma phenotypes, presence of atopy, and treatment regimens. Among 2053 patients analyzed, 61.

Current guidelines recommend adding long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs) in patients with uncontrolled asthma, despite the use of moderate to high doses of inhaled steroid-long-acting beta agonists (ICS/LABA). This study aims to analyze the factors related to the prescription of add-on LAMA in clinical practice for asthma patients, shedding light on physicians' preferences. This study included adult asthma patients on add-on LAMA and ICS/LABA monitored for at least one year in a national registry comprising 2053 asthmatics.

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a communicable illness and one of the leading causes of death, especially in developing countries like Turkey. One of the problems that must be managed well in the treatment of tuberculosis is drug hypersensitivity. The first-line agents are very important for the success of treatment.

Methods: The burden, progression, and predictors of CV damage before KRT onset were explored in two prospective multicenter cohorts from Europe and Canada: Cardiovascular Comorbidity in Children with CKD (4C) and Haemodiafiltration, Heart and Height (3H) studies, conducted from 2009-19 and 2013-16, respectively. CV damage and risk factors were evaluated (i) cross sectionally at KRT-start (n = 248), and (ii) longitudinally over the 2-years preceding KRT start (n = 157; 331 patient-visits).
Background: Continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) has recently become the preferred kidney replacement modality for children with acute kidney injury (AKI). We hypothesise that CKRT technical parameters and treatment settings in addition to the clinical characteristics of patients may influence the circuit lifetime in children.
Methods: The study involved children included in the EurAKId registry (NCT02960867), who underwent CKRT treatment.
Purpose: This study aimed to determine the level of anxiety, depression, support needs and opinions of mothers of children with cerebral palsy.
Design And Methods: The study used a descriptive qualitative design. The population of the study consisted of children with cerebral palsy who were educated in special education centers in a province of Eastern Turkey.
Background: Dyslipidemia is an important and modifiable risk factor for CVD in children with CKD.
Methods: In a cross-sectional study of baseline serum lipid levels in a large prospective cohort study of children with stage 3-5 (predialysis) CKD, frequencies of abnormal lipid levels and types of dyslipidemia were analyzed in the entire cohort and in subpopulations defined by fasting status or by the presence of nephrotic range proteinuria. Associated clinical and laboratory characteristics were determined by multivariable linear regression analysis.
Background: Complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) are being uses more often with cancer patients.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate attitudes, use and influencing factors of CAM among cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted on 407 cancer patients in Turkey.

Objective: Asthma is characterized by airway hyperresponsiveness due to chronic inflammation in the airways. One of the main cells involved in airway inflammation is eosinophils. In the current study, a bronchial provocation test (BPT) was performed to demonstrate airway hyperresponsiveness.

To uncover novel targets, we performed an epigenetic drug screen on taxane (docetaxel and cabazitaxel) resistant CR-PCa cells. We identified BRPF reader proteins, along with several epigenetic groups (CBP/p300, Menin-MLL, PRMT5 and SIRT1) that act as targets effectively reversing the resistance mediated by ABCB1.

Materials And Methods: Our study was formed of two cohorts of patients, group I represents patients presenting with haematuria (n = 98), while group II represents patients with known non-muscle invasive bladder cancers on their scheduled follow up cystoscopic investigation (n = 51). For both groups, patients were asked to provide urine samples before cystoscopy, either primary as part of the haematuria investigation or as a scheduled follow-up.
Background: Early diagnosis and effective antiretroviral therapy (ART) lead to similar life expectancy in people living with HIV (PLWH) compared to the general population. This population faces problems such as decreased bone mineral density (BMD) and increased fracture risk. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of osteoporosis in men aged 50 years and over who were PLWH and to determine risk factors and changes in bone metabolism with bone turnover markers.

Methods: We investigated the effect of different treatment modalities (dialysis, preemptive kidney transplantation (KTx), late KTx after dialysis) on IMT by multivariable linear mixed-effect modeling.
Objective: Immunoglobulin-A vasculitis (IgAV) is an inflammatory disease that affects small blood vessels. This study was performed to identify an association between protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 22 (PTPN22) + 788G > A (rs33996649), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) -509C > T (rs18004069), interleukin 1-beta (IL-1β) -511C > T (rs16944), interleukin 5 (IL-5) -746C/T (rs2069812), and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) I/D (rs4646994) gene polymorphisms, susceptibility to IgAV, as well as the mRNA levels of IL-1β, IL-1β, and TGF-β.
Method: A total of 53 patients with IgAV and 50 healthy controls were enrolled.
Background: Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor with extremely poor prognosis, highlighting an urgent need for developing novel treatment options. Identifying epigenetic vulnerabilities of cancer cells can provide excellent therapeutic intervention points for various types of cancers.
Method: In this study, we investigated epigenetic regulators of glioblastoma cell survival through CRISPR/Cas9 based genetic ablation screens using a customized sgRNA library EpiDoKOL, which targets critical functional domains of chromatin modifiers.
This study aims to evaluate the role of shearwave elastography (SWE) and superb microvascular imaging (SMI) for preoperative prediction of axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM) in patients with breast cancer. In a cohort of 214 women with breast cancer, B-Mode ultrasonography (US), SMIvascular-index (SMIvi), and SWE (E-mean, E-ratio) values were recorded before tru-cut biopsy. Axillary fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) and sentinel lymph node sampling results were collected.

This study was conducted to determine some demographic and radiological measurement parameters that can predict treatment options in patients with odontoid fractures.
Materials And Methods: The patients were separated into the surgery (-) group ( = 9) and the surgery (+) group ( = 10).
The photoexcited triplet states of porphyrins show great promise for applications in the fields of opto-electronics, photonics, molecular wires, and spintronics. The magnetic properties of porphyrin triplet states are most conveniently studied by time-resolved continuous wave and pulse electron spin resonance (ESR). This family of techniques is singularly able to probe small yet essential details of triplet states: zero-field splittings, g-anisotropy, spin polarisation, and hyperfine interactions.

Introduction: Chemotherapy drugs have been in our lives for a long time, and all agents have the potential to develop hypersensitivity. Rapid drug desensitization is an option when hypersensitivity develops. The aim of this study was to examine the characteristics, diagnostic processes, and treatment results of patients with chemotherapeutic agent hypersensitivity who applied to our tertiary reference center.
