Aorta-right atrial tunnel is a rarely seen congenital anomaly with an unknown etiopathology. Due to its life-threatening complications, it must be treated either surgically or by transcatheterization technique as soon as possible. Planning the treatment strategy considering the relation between the aorta-right atrial tunnel and coronary arteries is of utmost importance.

A CAD of fully automated colonic polyp detection for contrasted and non-contrasted CT scans.

Purpose: Computer-aided detection (CAD) systems are developed to help radiologists detect colonic polyps over CT scans. It is possible to reduce the detection time and increase the detection accuracy rates by using CAD systems. In this paper, we aimed to develop a fully integrated CAD system for automated detection of polyps that yields a high polyp detection rate with a reasonable number of false positives.

The effect of recording site on extracted features of motor unit action potential.

Motor unit action potential (MUAP), which consists of individual muscle fiber action potentials (MFAPs), represents the electrical activity of the motor unit. The values of the MUAP features are changed by denervation and reinnervation in neurogenic involvement as well as muscle fiber loss with increased diameter variability in myopathic diseases. The present study is designed to investigate how increased muscle fiber diameter variability affects MUAP parameters in simulated motor units.

Repair of aortic coarctation and aneurysm of ductus arteriosus in the presence of right-sided arch and descending aorta.

Association of right aortic arch and coarctation of the aorta is rare. A patient with aortic coarctation was presented to our clinic. Detailed radiological work-up revealed aortic coarctation, aneurysm of ductus arteriosus, mirror image brachiocephalic vessels, right-sided arch, and right-sided descending aorta.

Right ventricular penetration and cardiac tamponade as a late complication of Kirschner wire placement in the sternoclavicular joint.

A 44-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency service with dyspnea, chest pain, and vomiting. Cardiac tamponade due to right ventricular penetration of a Kirschner wire was detected as a late complication of wire placement in the sternoclavicular joint. Clinicians should be aware of wire migration with cardiac penetration as a late complication of Kirschner wire placed in any part of the body.

Octreotide for treating chylothorax after cardiac surgery.

Chylothorax is a rare but serious complication of cardiac surgery, with a poor prognosis unless treated properly. We report the case of 66-year-old woman who developed chylothorax after coronary artery bypass grafting. The chylothorax was successfully treated in 8 days by means of subcutaneous octreotide administration and a diet that contained medium-chain triglycerides.

Surgical treatment of a huge cavernous hemangioma surrounding the right coronary artery.

Hemangioma of the heart is an extremely rare benign cardiac tumor. A 61-year-old woman presented with a huge hemangioma on the right ventricle. The tumor was completely surrounding the right coronary artery.
