Introduction: This study was aimed to compare spinal and general anesthesia methods in endoscopic management of proximal ureteral stones with a particular emphasis on total anesthesia time.
Methods: A total of 246 adult patients undergoing ureteroscopic management for proximal ureteral stones between January 2021 and March 2023 were enrolled. Two different types of anesthesia namely spinal (Group 1, n=109) and general (Group 2, n=137) anesthesia were applied during these procedures.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of the use of shear wave elastography (SWE) in comparison to chemical shift encoding (CSE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the evaluation of multifidus muscle fatty degeneration in patients with chronic low back pain.
Method: Multifidus muscles were evaluated with the CSE-MRI and SWE examinations in control and patient groups. With the in-phase and out-phase sequences in CSE-MRI, signal intensity index (SII), and signal intensity suppression ratio (SISR) values; with the SWE method, shear wave velocity values were determined.

: This study was performed for the purpose of assessing whether antiepileptic levetiracetam treatment produces a change in brain volumes in children with epilepsy. To that end, we compared the volumes of the basal ganglia (caudate nucleus, putamen, globus, hip-pocampus, and thalamus) at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) before and after treatment (months 18-24) in pediatric epilepsy patients using levetiracetam. : This retrospective study involved a volumetric comparison of patients presenting to the Balikesir University Medical Faculty pediatric neurology clinic between 01.

Prior studies comparing Syrian refugee adolescents to their native peers in the same region have found higher anxiety and lower life satisfaction. Therefore, identifying regulatory variables is crucial for implementing support programs. This study examined the mediating effect of peer relationships and the moderating effect of being a refugee or native adolescent on the relationship between adolescent anxiety and life satisfaction across different samples.

The HDAC inhibitors approved to date are pan-HDAC inhibitors and most show a poor selectivity profile, side effects, and in particular hydroxamic-acid-based inhibitors lack good pharmacokinetic profiles. Therefore, the development of isoform-selective non-hydroxamic acid HDAC inhibitors is a highly regarded field in medicinal chemistry.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the diabetes burden in elderly individuals along with successful ageing, which defines how well individual ages contribute to coping with the disease and diabetes management. This study also aimed to evaluate the relationship between diabetes burden and successful ageing in elderly individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Methods: The data for this descriptive study were collected from 526 individuals who were 65 years old patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the diabetes polyclinic of a research and training hospital between January and June 2021.
Many factors are considered to affect vascular physiology. It is known that one of the reasons for many diseases is a pathology at the microvascular level. Therefore, the relationship between endothelial dysfunction and many diseases is currently being investigated.

Materials And Methods: A total of 126 patients were assessed in the third month for symptoms, pulmonary function, exercise capacity, radiologic imaging, and quality of life after being discharged following COVID-19 treatment.
Objectives: To compare the efficacy of in-vivo and in-vitro stone attenuation in the prediction of stone composition using non-contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography (NCCT).
Methods: This study included a total of 104 patients with renal stones who received percutaneous nephrolithotomy treatment for renal stones between December 2016 and December 2019 and underwent NCCT before the procedure. Preoperative (in-vivo) and postoperative (in-vitro) kidney stone attenuations were compared using the NCCT images of the patients.
In order to develop novel inhibitors of the bacterial deacetylase LpxC bearing a substituent to target the UDP binding site of the enzyme, a series of aldotetronic acid-based hydroxamic acids was accessed in chiral pool syntheses starting from 4,6-O-benzylidene-d-glucose and l-arabinitol. The synthesized hydroxamic acids were tested for LpxC inhibitory activity in vitro, revealing benzyl ether 17a ((2S,3S)-4-(benzyloxy)-N,3-dihydroxy-2-[(4-{[4-(morpholinomethyl)phenyl]ethynyl}benzyl)oxy]butanamide) as the most potent LpxC inhibitor. This compound was additionally tested for antibacterial activity against a panel of clinically relevant Gram-negative bacteria, bacterial uptake, and susceptibility to efflux pumps.

Methods: The files of patients who were treated for iatrogenic distal ureteral injuries in our clinic between January 2013 and January 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. A total of 60 patients who underwent either intra-vesical split-cuff nipple ureteroneocystostomy (Group A) or extra-vesical modified Lich-Gregoir ureteroneocystostomy (Group B) operations were included in the study.

Objective: To search whether there is a correlation between middle hepatic venous indices (HVIs) obtained by pulsed waved doppler ultrasonography (PW-DUS) and the main pulmonary artery (mPA) diameter, calculated by computed tomography (CT).
Study Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study.
Place And Duration Of Study: Department of Radiology, Balikesir University School of Medicine, Turkey, from February to December 2020.
Purpose: To examine the parameters affecting the need for additional procedures in the primary ureteroscopy treatment in patients with ureteral stones above the iliac crest level.
Methods: Seventy-one patients were included in the study who were ≥ 18 years old and had undergone ureteroscopy (URS) for ureteral stones above the iliac crest level between 2018-2020 and had a non-contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography before the procedures were included in the study. Patients and stone characteristics were prospectively collected.
Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are epigenetic regulators and additionally control the activity of non-histone substrates. We recently demonstrated that inhibition of HDAC8 overexpressed in various of cancers reduces hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenicity in a T cell-dependent manner. Here, we present alkylated hydrazide-based class I HDAC inhibitors in which the -hexyl side chain attached to the hydrazide moiety shows HDAC8 selectivity .

Sirtuins are protein deacylases regulating metabolism and stress responses and implicated in aging-related diseases. Modulators of the human sirtuins 1-7 are sought as chemical tools and potential therapeutics, for example, for treatment of cancer. We were able to show that 3-aryl-mercapto-succinylated- and 3-benzyl-mercapto-succinylated peptide derivatives yield selective Sirt5 inhibitors with low nM values.
