Root rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina, a common soil-borne disease in black gram, is managed with chemical fungicides, leading to toxicity and degradation of beneficial soil microbes. Existing bioagents, like talc formulation, cause leaching, clogging, and reduced productivity. The development of liquid bio-formulation via drip irrigation is crucial to mitigate biotic stress and maximize yield.

Carotenoid, natural pigments, synthesized by plants and microbes are now much favored in global markets due to the awareness of their putative health benefits, and a wide array of commercial applications. There is a diversity of natural and synthetic carotenoid, but only a few of them are commercially produced, including carotenes (β-carotene and lycopene) and xanthophylls (astaxanthin, canthaxanthin, lutein, zeaxanthin, and capsanthin). However, for commercial production, plants and algae are more favored than cyanobacteria because of their much less carotenoid synthesis than land plants; although they are well known for producing commercially important carotenoid.

The root-knot nematode (RKN) causes significant yield loss in tomatoes. Understanding the interaction of biocontrol agents (BCAs)-nematicides-soil microbiomes and RKNs is essential for enhancing the efficacy of biocontrol agents and nematicides to curb RKN damage to crops. The present study aimed to evaluate the in vitro effectiveness of BACa and nematicide against RKN and to apply the amplicon sequencing to assess the interaction of Bacillus velezensis (VB7) and Trichoderma koningiopsis (TK) against RKNs.

Gladiolus is a highly allogamous flower plant, but owing to the prolonged juvenile phase, asexual propagation is preferred, which acts as a barrier for the induction of natural genetic variability in gladiolus. Therefore, the induced mutagenesis could be utilized for the creation of desirable genotypes, without altering their basic agronomic features. An analysis of the optimum doses of γ radiation for the induction of fruitful mutations could be achieved in short period of time, compared with the conventional method of breeding.

Introduction Bladder cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide, with significant morbidity and mortality rates. Treatment options for metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC) primarily include platinum-based chemotherapy. Cisplatin-based chemotherapy is conventionally used for treating mUC, but many patients are ineligible due to various factors such as poor performance status, creatinine clearance, neuropathy, and cardiac function.

A new bidentate Schiff base ligand (CHClN), condensation product of ethylene diamine and 4-chloro N-phenyl formamide, and its metal complexes [M(CHClN)(OAc)] (where M = Mn(II) and Zn(II)) were synthesized and characterized using various analytical and spectral techniques, including high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), elemental analysis, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, AAS, molar conductance, H NMR, and powder XRD. All the compounds were non-electrolytes and nanocrystalline. The synthesized compounds were assessed for antioxidant potential by DPPH radical scavenging and FRAP assay, with BHT serving as the positive control.

Recently, there has been an increasing demand for medicinal plants to control diseases for good health and well-being, as primary health facilities are inadequate in certain populations to cure infections. Since synthetic medicines are toxic to humans and other animals, the present research is thus focused on using traditional medicine for treating various ailments as they are harmless. Based on the above facts, the current study was conducted to assay the antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, anti-cholinesterase, anti-oxidant, anti-quorum sensing, and anti-antibiotic resistance modifying effect of extracts of .

Background: The pharmaceutical sector in Pakistan has grown over a period with export potential, however, there are certain barriers in the framework that regulate the growth and export of domestically manufactured pharmaceuticals. The purpose of this study was to highlight the current challenges that hinder the export of pharmaceuticals, especially to the countries with stringent regulatory authorities (SRA), as perceived by the domestic pharmaceutical industry experts, and to highlight the facilitators that may help to resolve the identified challenges.

Methods: In a qualitative study, the data were collected from the consented experts from the pharmaceutical industries in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta.

Organophosphates constitute a major class of pesticides widely employed in agriculture to manage insect pests. Their toxicity is attributed to their ability to inhibit the functioning of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), an essential enzyme for normal nerve transmission. Organophosphates, especially chlorpyrifos, have been a key component of the integrated pest management (IPM) in onions, effectively controlling onion maggot , a severe pest of onions.

Article Synopsis
  • - The "smoker's paradox" describes how smokers experience a greater effectiveness of the antiplatelet drug clopidogrel compared to non-smokers, likely due to tobacco smoke inducing specific enzymes (CYP1A2 and CYP2C19) that affect drug metabolism.
  • - Genetic factors, including ethnic differences and specific gene variants, play a significant role in how individuals respond to clopidogrel, highlighting the complexity and individuality of the smoker's paradox.
  • - The review also compares clopidogrel's efficacy with other antiplatelet drugs like prasugrel and ticagrelor, which show more consistent effects, and discusses the importance of personalized treatment based on patient characteristics and smoking status to
