We aimed to investigate whether individuals on impaired FEV/FVC trajectories have an increased burden of respiratory symptoms, including those who do not meet the spirometric criteria for COPD.
Methods: We analysed serial life-course data from two population-based cohort studies separately, which included respiratory symptoms and spirometry: the Tasmanian Longitudinal Health Study (TAHS, Australia) cohort was recruited at age 6-7 years and followed up until middle age (mean age 53 years; range 51-55); and the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA, USA) cohort was recruited at a mean age of 25 years (range 18-30) and followed up to a mean age of 55 years (range 47-64).

The morphology of the nanoparticles changes from poly shapes at 400 °C to spherical ones at 800 °C, and particle sizes increase from ∼42 nm to ∼128 nm. We aimed to develop models to predict 30-day COVID-19 hospitalization and death in the Omicron era for contemporary clinical and research applications.
Methods: We used comprehensive electronic health records from a national cohort of patients in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 between March 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023.
Increasing evidence points to the microbial exposome as a critical factor in maturing and shaping the host immune system, thereby influencing responses to immune challenges such as infections or vaccines. To investigate the effect of early-life viral exposures on immune development and vaccine responses, we inoculated mice with six distinct viral pathogens in sequence beginning in the neonatal period, and then evaluated their immune signatures before and after intramuscular or intranasal vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. Sequential viral infection drove profound changes in all aspects of the immune system, including increasing circulating leukocytes, altering innate and adaptive immune cell lineages in tissues, and markedly influencing serum cytokine and total antibody levels.

Plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) is a rare and aggressive type of lymphoma, particularly affecting HIV-positive and immunocompromised individuals, with a median diagnosis age of 49 years. Cases of this malignancy in HIV-negative individuals are less common and rarely involve the bone marrow. While traditional chemotherapy regimens such as cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone (CHOP) were previously utilized in the management of such malignancy, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network currently recommends more intensive approaches.

We have showed switching from TDF to TAF for 96 weeks resulted in further alanine aminotransferase (ALT) improvement, but data remain lacking on the long-term benefits of TDF switching to TAF on hepatic fibrosis.
Aim: To assess the benefits of TDF switching to TAF for 3 years on ALT, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and hepatic fibrosis improvement in patients with CHB.
