A systematic study of the effect of phosphine and bis-phosphine ligands in the interaction of Ni, Pd, and Pt complexes with two classes of zinc fingers was performed. The CysHis, finger 3 of specific protein-1, and the CysHisCys C-terminal zinc finger of nucleocapsid protein 7 of the HIV-1 were used as models of the respective class. In general, phosphine ligands favor the metal binding to the peptide, although the bis-phosphine ligands produce more specific binding than the monodentate.

This work encompasses a direct and coherent strategy to synthesise a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) capable of extracting fluconazole from its sample. The MIP was successfully prepared from methacrylic acid (functional monomer), ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate (crosslinker) and acetonitrile (porogenic solvent) in the presence of fluconazole as the template molecule through a non-covalent approach. The non-imprinted polymer (NIP) was prepared following the same synthetic scheme, but in the absence of the template.

Infantile hepatic hemangioma (IHH) is a common liver tumors of infancy with a higher incidence in females. Various treatments for infantile hepatic hemangioma such as systemic corticosteroids, interferon-alpha, vincristine and cyclophosphamide have been suggested, though no consensus exists about the first-choice treatment. Recent evidences suggest that propranolol, a nonselective β-blocker, may be effective and safe as first-line therapy for infantile hepatic hemangioma.

A 33-day-old female with an ulcerated infantile hemangioma (IH) undergoing oral therapy with propranolol 2 mg/kg per day developed hyperkalemia and hyperphosphatemia 24 h after starting medication. No electrocardiographic or clinical abnormalities secondary to the electrolyte changes were noticed. A laboratory tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) was diagnosed after excluding other causes of electrolyte imbalance in the diagnostic workup.

Background: Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is an unusual, clinically polymorphic, vascular neoplasm with genetic, infectious, environmental and immunological pathogenesis. Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) made in vivo noninvasive imaging of the skin possible and has been used for the evaluation of several skin diseases offering important microscopic information.

Objective: The purpose of our study is to describe the RCM features of KS and correlate them with histopathology evaluating the effective prediction attitude and repeatability of RCM.

Background: Clear cell acanthoma (CCA) is a rare, benign neoplasm of unknown etiology, whose dermoscopic and histological features have been previously described. Usually, CCA can be diagnosed by clinical and dermoscopic examination. In some cases, diagnosis remains uncertain, and histological examination is needed.
