Parathyroid adenoma is the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism and rarely reaches huge sizes. As the gland enlarges it may exhibit atypical morphology and extension to the mediastinum which may complicate the excision of the tumor while preserving the capsular integrity. We present a 35-year-old male patient who was referred to our department with a complaint of severe hypercalcemia.

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy that affects women. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an essential role in cancer therapy and regulate many biological processes such as cisplatin resistance. The study's objective was to determine whether miR-182 dysregulation was the cause of cisplatin resistance in TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231.

Background: This study evaluated the long surgical gauze (SurG) technique as a liver retraction method in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Traditional methods involve the Nathanson retractor, associated with ischemia and necrosis complications. In addition, these techniques require an additional trocar with an incision that increases postoperative pain.

Background: In medicine, Artificial intelligence has begun to be utilized in nearly every domain, from medical devices to the interpretation of imaging studies. There is still a need for more experience and more studies related to the comprehensive use of AI in medicine. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the ability of AI to make decisions regarding anesthesia methods and to compare the most popular AI programs from this perspective.

Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is a complex hypersensitivity reaction observed in asthma as well as cystic fibrosis (CF) patients due to the colonization of the airways by Aspergillus fumigatus. While ABPA is most commonly observed in CF patients (2-9%), it is seen at a rate of 1-2% in patients diagnosed with asthma. ABPA is mostly seen in steroid dependent adult asthma patients and has rarely been reported in pediatric asthma patients.

Objective: We aimed to discuss our experience of a higher incidence of catheter-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) during the needle-free connector (NFC) and single-use prefilled flushing syringe (PFS) shortage.

Materials And Methods: Retrospective analyses were carried out to investigate the CLABSI rates at a tertiary training hospital from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, and the study period included a three-month shortage of NFCs and PFSs in April and June 2023.

Results: The CLABSI rate for the three months was 5.

Understanding the molecular signaling pathways of colorectal cancer (CRC) can be accepted as the first step in treatment strategy. Permanent mTOR signaling activation stimulates the CRC process via various biological processes. It supplies the survival of CRC stem cells, tumorigenesis, morbidity, and decreased response to drugs in CRC pathogenesis.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the importance of the Dorr index in the preoperative evaluation of implant failure in patients who underwent proximal femoral nail (PFN).

Patients And Methods: This retrospective study examined 312 patients who underwent PFN for intertrochanteric fractures between January 2016 and January 2020. Patients with unstable fractures according to the AO/OTA (AO Foundation/Orthopaedic Trauma Association) classification, those over 65 years of age, with at least one year of regular follow-up, a tip-apex distance <25 mm, and a caput-collum-diaphyseal angle between 125° and 135°, were included.

Introduction: USP9X has been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders due to its role in synaptic development and neural function. This study aimed to compare USP9X and TGF-β levels in children with autism and healthy controls, and explore their relationship with autism severity.

Methods: Serum USP9X and TGF-β levels were measured in 41 healthy control children (aged 3-12 years) and 41 children with autism.

SOFT syndrome (SOFTS) is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by biallelic POC1A variants, characterized by short stature, distinctive facial features, onychodysplasia, and hypotrichosis. To date, 21 pathogenic POC1A variants have been reported in 26 families. This study aims to broaden the phenotypic and genotypic spectrum of SOFTS with emphasis on the long-term effects of growth hormone (GH) therapy.

Background: Liver retraction management in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is challenging for surgeons, especially in patients with enlarged livers. Traditional methods, such as the Nathanson retractor (NR), often necessitate additional incisions, potentially increasing liver enzymes and increasing the risk of complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the use of a Veress needle (VN), an alternative liver retraction technique, in LSG surgery compared with NR.

Recently, a deep learning algorithm (DLA) has been developed to predict the chronological age from retinal images. The Retinal Age Gap (RAG), a deviation between predicted age from retinal images (Retinal Age, RA) and chronological age, correlates with mortality and age-related diseases. This study evaluated the reliability and accuracy of RA predictions and analyzed various factors that may influence them.
