This study was conducted to test the hypothesis that antigenic challenge is an important stimulative factor for an episode of endolymphatic hydrops. The study was held in a tertiary care center for patients with probable or definite Meniere's disease. The prick test, which included dietary and inhalant allergens, was applied to all patients with a Multi-Test Applicator (Lincoln Diagnostics, Decatur, Ill).

Materials And Methods: Fifty-seven patients with newly diagnosed NSCLC were enrolled into study. Performance status was 0 or 1 in 47 patients and 2 in 10 patients.
Interleukins (ILs) are known to play a fundamental role in cancer. We investigated the serum levels of IL-8 and IL-12, in breast cancer patients, and their relationship with the prognostic parameters and therapy. Forty eight patients with pathologically verified breast carcinoma and 21 healthy controls were enrolled into the study.

Objective: To determine the risk of vaginal recurrence in Stage 1 endometrial cancer and treatment morbidity associated with different therapeutic approaches
Material And Methods: Between 1995 and 2005, 341 patients with clinical Stage I endometrial cancer were treated at Istanbul Medical Faculty. One hundred and forty-four women were included in this study as the follow-ups and records were complete. The patients with no myometrial invasion received no further therapy following hysterectomy.

Aim: To investigate the benefit of using peak expiratory flow (PEF) monitoring to screen for asthma in allergic rhinitis patients.
Methods: Eighty-nine consecutive patients with allergic rhinitis but never assessed for asthma were included in this prospective study. Their allergic status was determined by skin prick tests.
Background: Activity of tamoxifen as a salvage therapy in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer was evaluated by a number of studies. In this study, we evaluated efficacy of tamoxifen in our patients with platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian carcinoma.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of patients who received tamoxifen at a dose 20 mg twice daily for the treatment of advanced epithelial ovarian cancer.

Background: Inpatient medical oncology has not been properly described in many countries including Turkey.
Methods: We aimed in this article to describe the admissions to a medical oncology inpatient service within a 2-year period with respect to patient characteristics, their malignancies, and outcome of admission.
Results: A total of 5305 cancer patients were seen at our hospital, and 779 (14.
Background: Angiogenesis is regulated by a balance of both angiogenic inducers and inhibitors. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of both maximum-tolerated doses (MTD) and low-dose metronomic chemotherapy (LDM) on serum vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), thrombospondin-1 (TSP1) and VEGFR1 concentrations in patients with advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer.
Patients And Methods: Forty consecutive patients with advanced stage nonsmall cell lung cancer were included in this prospective study.
We present a case report on a postpartum uterine rupture with the history of a previous cesarean section. During the diagnosis of rupture, ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging of the uterus were obtained. Ultrasound examination did not result in substantial information.

This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a triplet combination with topotecan added to the standard PE regimen in previously untreated patients with ED-SCLC.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-one patients (median age 55 years, and 18 male) with chemotherapy-naive ED-SCLC were enrolled into the study.
Human chorionic gonadotropin bears structural homology to pituitary thyrotropin. The extremely elevated levels of human chorionic gonadotropin in patients with molar pregnancy or other trophoblastic diseases can lead to hyperthyroidism. We describe a patient with molar pregnancy who had secondary hyperthyroidism prepared rapidly by plasmapheresis for surgery.

The management of these patients is also controversial. This study was performed to compare the efficacy and toxicity profiles of two different systemic therapies (chemotherapy vs hormonal therapy) given for the treatment of patients with MREC and to identify the impact of various prognostic factors on the survival.

However, little is known about the effect of intermediate dose interferon (IDI) in adjuvant therapy. We conducted this study to determine whether intermediate doses of interferon-alpha 2 could be beneficial for these patients.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of the apex-locating function of the TCM Endo V and to compare the results to these of the Root ZX.
Study Design: Forty-seven extracted maxillary incisor teeth with mature apices and patent single root canals were used for the study. After the root surfaces were cleaned and access cavities were prepared, the true working lengths (TL) were determined with a #10 stainless steel file.
In this study, the psychological effects of single-dose corticosteroids administered to patients who had undergone rhinoplasty were assessed. A total of 30 rhinoplasty patients were included in the study and were randomly assigned to 1 of 2 groups. Preoperatively, patients completed the Bech Rafaelsen Mania Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory.

Background: This study was performed to determine the characteristics and the clinical outcomes of patients with cutaneous melanoma in Turkey.
Methods: The medical records of patients between 1991 and 2003 at Institute of Oncology were retrieved from the cancer registry.
Results: Of the 475 adult cases with complete staging procedure, the incidence of localized (stages I-II) disease was 301 (63.
This study was conducted to investigate the serum and urine levels of survivin in patients with breast cancer and the relationships with known prognostic parameters and therapy. Forty-three patients with breast cancer and 21 healthy control subjects were investigated. Serum samples were obtained on the first admission before adjuvant and metastatic treatment were given and after two cycles of chemotherapy.

In this study, we analyzed the circulating serum levels of potent angiogenic factors, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), angiogenin, transforming growth factor-beta1 and VEGF receptors, VEGFR1 and VEGFR2, in human melanoma patients. One hundred and fourteen patients with histopathologically verified cutaneous melanoma at different stages and 30 healthy controls were investigated.

The characteristic changes in cancer process are assumed to be genetic alterations about the imbalance of cell proliferation and apoptotic cell death. This study was conducted to determine the value of the circulating vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Bcl-2 in patients with advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). These serum factors were measured of 52 NSCLC patients pathologically verified on before and after chemotherapy in comparison with 16 healthy controls by using ELISA method.
