Prognostic value of systemic immune-inflammation index in older patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Objectives: Contemporary studies assessing the importance of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in older patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are scarce. This study investigated the impact and prognostic value of the SII regarding long-term mortality in older patients with ACS.

Methods: The study included 401 older patients aged 75 years and above admitted with ACS between May 2015 and December 2022.

The Relationship of Serum Diabetes Antibodies With the Development of Early Diabetic Retinopathy Findings in Children With Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

Purpose: To explore how serum diabetes autoantibodies are related to the development of early diabetic retinopathy in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Methods: In this prospective and observational study, 62 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus who had not yet developed clinical diabetic retinopathy were followed up for at least 5 years. Healthy volunteers aged 10 to 20 years were also included.

The mechanism of the base-catalyzed thiol-epoxide stage of the thiol-ene/thiol-epoxide curing process was investigated using quantum chemical tools. This study searched for conventional tertiary amines with low to medium basicity as initiators to control reaction rates and tailor industrial applications. Challenges arise from the stronger basicity of initiators, leading to an uncontrollable and short curing application period.

Does microperimetry have a role in monitoring visual function in patients with Behçet uveitis?

Background: To evaluate the change in time in visual acuity, central macular thickness (CMT), and microperimetry (MP) findings in Behçet uveitis (BU) patients who were in remission with maintenance therapy.

Methods: This single center, retrospective, observational cohort study included twenty-five eyes of 25 patients with BU who were in remission during maintenance therapy. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), CMT, macular integrity index, average threshold, and fixation stabilities (P1 and P2) evaluated at six-month intervals were recorded.

Juvenile papillomatosis: A case report.

This study investigates the synergistic anti-tumoral effects of calcitriol, the biologically active form of vitamin D, and sodium pentaborate pentahydrate (NaB) on HepG2 cells.

Temporary unilateral upper eyelid retraction: an unreported rare complication of rhinoplasty.

Background: Upper eyelid retraction may develop due to various neurogenic, myogenic, and mechanistic causes. Although the development of lagophthalmus after rhinoplasty has been described in the literature, upper eyelid retraction after uncomplicated rhinoplasty has not been reported before.

Case Presentation: This report presents a case of unilateral upper eyelid retraction observed six days after uncomplicated rhinoplasty.

Due to the lack of a definitive effective treatment method that provides a complete cure and increases survival rates in uveal melanoma, the search for alternative treatments at the molecular level continues. In this context, we aimed to comparatively analyze the therapeutic effects of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (D2), 1a, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (D3), bevacizumab and radiotherapy (RT) in a uveal melanoma cell line (MP41). Cytotoxicity was evaluated using XTT cell proliferation kit and Xcelligence cell analyzer system.

The Effect of Laughter Yoga on Vasomotor Symptoms and Sleep Quality in Menopausal Women: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

This experimental study aimed to determine the effects of online laughter yoga on the sleep quality and vasomotor symptoms (VMS) of menopausal women through a prospective, randomized controlled trial. About 36 women who attend the Menopause School were randomized into either the laughter yoga (n = 18) or the control group (n = 18). The laughter yoga group participated in eight online laughter yoga sessions, with two sessions per week for four weeks, whereas the control group did not receive any intervention.

Thrombotic Microangiopathy Following Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Case of Purtscher-like Retinopathy.

Purtscher-like retinopathy (PLR) is a rare entity related with retinal ischemia due to endothelial dysfunction and embolization. We present a case of a 17-year-old patient who presented with PLR associated with transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy. Visual acuity was finger counting at 1 meter in both eyes.
