Sleep is increasingly recognized as a significant contributor to the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Recent American Heart Association guidelines incorporate sleep duration into the "Life's Essential Eight" framework of ideal cardiovascular health. This article will review the evidence relating sleep duration, regularity, and quality with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, cardiometabolic syndrome, and coronary artery disease in adults.

Recycling of protein-rich environmental wastes and obtaining more valuable products from these recycled products is a topic of interest for researchers. This study aims to produce, purify, and characterize the physicochemical and structural properties of the protease enzyme produced from Brevibacillus agri SAR25 using salmon fish waste as substrate and also to evaluate the effect of protease on the chicken feather, enzyme-ligand interactions, and active site surface area. The production of protease was optimum on 50 g/L fish waste, pH 8, 40 °C, 96 h, and 150 rpm.

This retrospective study involved patients diagnosed and treated from 2020 to 2024. Determination of 16 European Priority Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Doner Kebab Varieties Cooked Under Different Heating Sources.

Doner kebab is a traditional Turkish meat product produced from lamb, beef or poultry meat seasoned with a blend of spices such as salt, black pepper, cumin, thyme and/or sauces. The aim of this study was to determine 16 EU priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in doner kebabs cooked under four different heating sources (electricity, open gas, wood and charcoal grilling). For this purpose, 200 meat doner and 200 chicken doner kebab samples were obtained randomly from various buffets and restaurants located in Istanbul and analyzed by means of GC-MS.

The results of these studies vary, but some variables such as smoking or certain systemic conditions are more likely to predispose or exacerbate the resorption around implants. The aim of this study was to determine the rates of implants with radiographically detected marginal bone loss and to determine whether there is a relationship between the severity of destruction and certain risk factors like location of implant, restoration type, systemic condition, age, sex or smoking habits.

Humpback whales undertake one of the longest known migrations of any mammal. While their migration route generally extends between latitudes, the breeding stocks are longitudinally separated and display high site fidelity to their feeding grounds. While there is an indication of certain breeding stocks overlapping with each other, the current information on the migration routes of humpback whales within the Southern Hemisphere limits our understanding of the extent of this exchange.

Cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) enables the mapping of protein-protein interactions on the cellular level. When applied to all compartments of mitochondria, the sheer number of cross-links and connections can be overwhelming, rendering simple cluster analyses convoluted and uninformative. To address this limitation, we integrate the XL-MS data, 3D electron microscopy data, and localization annotations with a supra coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulation to sort all data, making clusters more accessible and interpretable.

In this work, we present the synthesis and characterization of hitherto unknown class of aromatic endoperoxides, namely quinoline endoperoxides. Quinolines, especially after quaternization, show significant targeting of mitochondria.

Background: Botulinum toxin (BoNT) injections are used to reduce spasticity, and sometimes repeated injections are required. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the number of BoNT injections into the gastrocnemius muscle on function, muscle morphology, muscle stiffness, and muscle vascularization in children with cerebral palsy (CP).

Methods: The study included 22 children with spastic-type CP aged five to 13 years who had previously received one, two, or three BoNT injections into the gastrocnemius muscle.

Under these conditions, a great deal of evidence suggests that words are perceived better than nonwords, and even single letters, and it is generally accepted that these "word superiority effects" reflect the relative efficiency with which words are perceived. For more than 50 years, a key procedure for establishing these effects has been the Reicher-Wheeler Paradigm in which potentially confounding effects of non-perceptual guesswork are cleverly suppressed.

Segmentation of periapical lesions with automatic deep learning on panoramic radiographs: an artificial intelligence study.

Periapical periodontitis may manifest as a radiographic lesion radiographically. Periapical lesions are amongst the most common dental pathologies that present as periapical radiolucencies on panoramic radiographs. The objective of this research is to assess the diagnostic accuracy of an artificial intelligence (AI) model based on U²-Net architecture in the detection of periapical lesions on dental panoramic radiographs and to determine whether they can be useful in aiding clinicians with diagnosis of periapical lesions and improving their clinical workflow.
