Purpose: Air as a tamponade in pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is increasingly preferred due to its quick rehabilitation time. We aim to examine the factors affecting the absorption time of air tamponade.
Method: The study included 82 eyes from 78 patients who underwent PPV with air used as the tamponade.
Purpose: Reinke's edema is a benign lesion affecting the subepithelial layer of the vocal cords, often associated with moderate or heavy smoking. Smoking is the most significant risk factor for dysplastic laryngeal lesions, laryngeal carcinomas, and Reinke's edema. Thus, Reinke's edema could potentially be a predisposing factor for laryngeal malignancy in the long term.

Methods: The presence, percentage, and size of the invasive cribriform glands were investigated and their association with prognostic factors were assessed in 177 Grade Groups 2 and 3 prostate adenocarcinomas.
Background: Most methods for soft tissue stiffness assessment require high financial resources, significant technical effort, or extensive therapist training. The PACT Sense device was developed to be used in a wide range of applications and user groups. However, to date, there are no data on its validity and reliability.

A total of 261 adults with ASDs and their parents were recruited for the study. Both parents completed the Beck Depression and Maslach Burnout Inventories and reported the functioning of their adult offspring with ASDs.

Background: Sepsis monitoring tissue perfusion is crucial for detecting circulatory failure early, implementing the right treatments, and assessing response. Insufficient oxygenation leads to a rise in lactate level and has been shown to be useful in predicting mortality and morbidity in newborns. There have not been many studies on how lactate measurement affects neonatal sepsis diagnosis and prognosis.

This study aimed to analyze the gender differences among ophthalmology residency program directors (PDs) in the United States with respect to academic rank, number of publications, and h-index.
Methods: This cross-sectional study evaluated 120 ophthalmology residency PDs from 120 ophthalmology residency programs during the 2022 San Francisco Match.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of strabismus surgery on choroidal structure using the binarization method.
Methods: Forty-two eyes of 27 patients who had surgery for horizontal strabismus were included in the study. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of the patients before the operation and at 1 day and 1 week after the operation were binarized.
Purpose: The aim of our study is to evaluate the relationship between iron deficiency anemia (IDA), which is a common and often chronic condition in young women, and the optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings, which have become an indispensable part of ophthalmology practice. We aim to identify a new biomarker for anemia evaluation by demonstrating the morphological changes in the eye before and after iron replacement treatment through OCT findings.
Methods: 70 eyes of 35 patients diagnosed with IDA and planned to have parenteral iron replacement were included in the study.
Background and objective While men outnumber women in the specialty of ophthalmology in general, the subspecialty of vitreoretinal surgery in particular has the highest percentage of men across all ophthalmic subspecialties. This study aimed to analyze the gender disparities regarding the publication productivity and academic rank of academic vitreoretinal specialists in the United States (US). Methods This cross-sectional study evaluated 116 ophthalmology residency programs in the US participating in the 2022 San Francisco Match.

Epiretinal membrane, serous macular detachment, ellipsoid zone (EZ) disorder, external limiting membrane (ELM) disorder, and hyperreflective foci were also examined.
Methods: Patients treated for DME and also had DRIL were included in the study.

Background: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is the fourth most common retinopathy that causes severe vision loss and is frequently seen in young and active patients. Our aim in this study is to evaluate whether a foresight about the prognosis of patients with CSCR can be obtained by optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings.
Materials And Methods: Patients diagnosed with chronic CSCR at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Research and Training Hospital, Ophthalmology Department, were screened between January 2017 and September 2019, and 30 patients were included in the study.
Objective: There are many factors that affect the results of tympanoplasty in children. Recurrent ear infections, hearing loss, and more serious complications due to cholesteatoma may be observed. This study examined factors affecting the success of type 1 endoscopic tympanoplasty surgery in pediatric patients and investigated recommended procedures to increase the success of the operation.

Methods: The data of the patients with childhood-onset SLE diagnosed based on 2012 Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) criteria were retrospectively evaluated. Based on 2019 EULAR/ACR classification criteria, the scoring was done at the time of renal biopsy.
This study was conducted with 458 participants. The demographic and health information of the participants along with the Social Media Addiction, Emotional Eating Scale were obtained. The level of social media addiction in adults was moderate, and women were more interested in social media than men.

Material And Methods: Patients requiring an operation due to RLDH at the L4?5 level were included in the study. They divided into the following two groups: SD group who had only revision discectomy (n=20) and DD group who had unilateral dynamic rod stabilization with discectomy (n=20).
COVID-19 pandemic has changed clinical practice significantly. Trying to avoid airway manipulation to reduce viral transmission favoured regional anaesthesia techniques over general anaesthesia when feasible. In this case report, we share the anaesthetic care of a 45-year-old male with a history of intensive care unit admission due to COVID, positive pressure ventilation, and ECMO support.

Traumatic brain injury not only causes direct mechanical damage to the brain but also induces biochemical changes that lead to secondary nerve cell loss. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of milrinone after traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a rat model.

In this case report, EVT diagnosed due to a partial nephrectomy performed for a suspicious kidney mass in a 47-year-old patient is presented. A review of the literature and this case indicates that EVT, also called high-grade oncocytoma, does not show clinically aggressive behavior.

Paragangliomas are generally asymptomatic and may rarely appear with adrenergic symptoms, and clinical findings depend on the catecholamines they secrete. Extra-adrenal paragangliomas are mostly benign, like all paragangliomas.
