Objective: To prospectively evaluate the long-term effects of orthognathic surgery on masticatory function in individuals with repaired complete cleft lip and palate and to compare the results with a control group.

Material And Methods: A total of 40 individuals were prospectively analyzed before (PRE-ORTHOG) and approximately 12 months after orthognathic surgery (POST-ORTHOG). The participants were divided into two groups: 1) Cleft Lip and Palate Group (CLP): 20 adults with CLP undergoing orthognathic surgery (14 ♂, 6 ♀, age 24 ± 3 years), and 2) Control Group (CON): 20 paired adults with Angle Class I skeletal pattern who had never undergone orthognathic surgery (14 ♂, 6 ♀, age 25 ± 5 years).

We present a top-down construction of a three-dimensional nonlocal theory of massive gravity. This "nonlocal massive gravity" (NLMG) is obtained as the gravitational theory induced by Einstein gravity on a brane inserted in anti-de Sitter space modified by an overall minus sign. The theory involves an infinite series of increasingly complicated higher-derivative corrections to the Einstein-Hilbert action, with the quadratic term coinciding with new massive gravity.

It is already known that light quality and intensity have major influences on the growth, etiolation, germination, and morphology of many plant species, but there is limited information about the effect of wavelength and light intensity on nutrient absorption by plants. Therefore, this study was established to evaluate the plant growth, stomata formation, chlorophyll index, and absorption of macro- and micronutrients by common bean plants under six light treatments. The membrane (M) glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2 is one of the key viral proteins regulating virion assembly and morphogenesis. Immunologically, the M protein is a major source of peptide antigens driving T cell responses, and most individuals who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 make antibodies to the N-terminal, surface-exposed peptide of the M protein. We now report that although the M protein is abundant in the viral particle, antibodies to the surface-exposed N-terminal epitope of M do not appear to neutralize the virus.

Redox-active moieties assembled on metallic interfaces have been shown to follow quantum mechanical rules, where the quantum capacitance of the interface (directly associated with the electronic structure of the redox-active moieties) plays a key role in the electron transfer dynamics of the interface. Modifying these interfaces with biological receptors has significant advantages (simplifying molecular diagnostics methods, reducing size, time, and cost while maintaining high sensitivity), enabling the fabrication of miniaturized electroanalytical devices that can compete with traditional ELISA and RT-PCR benchtop assay methods. Owing to their intrinsic characteristics, the use of peptide-based redox-active moieties is a promising chemical route for modifying metallic surfaces, resulting in a high quantum capacitive signal sensitivity.
