Introduction: Laparoscopic liver resection is a challenging surgical procedure that may require prolonged operation time, particularly during the learning curve. Operation time significantly decreases with increasing experience; however, prolonged operation time may significantly increase the risk of postoperative complications.
Aim: To assess whether prolonged operation time over the benchmark value influences short-term postoperative outcomes after laparoscopic liver resection.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to establish whether laparoscopic RAMPS (L-RAMPS) is a safe procedure with better oncological outcomes compared to laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) with splenectomy among patients with distal pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
Methods: This is a retrospective study performed on consecutive patients who underwent L-RAMPS and LDP with splenectomy for resectable or borderline resectable PDAC of the body and tail. In this paper, we presented our technique of laparoscopic RAMPS and analyzed intraoperative and perioperative complications, oncological efficacy, and long-term survival.

Introduction: The determinants influencing the risk for complications of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomies (LDP) are not yet fully defined, thus we aimed to determine risk factors for serious perioperative morbidity after LDP with spleen preservation, LDP and radical antegrade modular pancreatosplenectomy for adenocarcinoma of the body and tail of the pancreas (RAMPS).

Material and methods: Retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients that underwent LDP between January 2019 and December 2022. The study group included cases of serious perioperative morbidity (III-V grades in Clavien-Dindo classification) during a 30-day period after operation.

Upon injury, hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) activate and secrete ECM proteins, forming scar tissue, which leads to liver dysfunction. Monocyte-chemoattractant protein-induced protein 1 (MCPIP1) possesses anti-inflammatory activity, and its overexpression reduces liver injury in septic mice.

Single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass (SADI-S) is quickly gaining recognition as a revisional procedure after failed SG.
Aim: To discuss the surgical technique and analyze initial outcomes after introduction of SADI-S after SG with 1-year follow-up.
Introduction: Over the past three decades, almost every type of abdominal surgery has been performed and refined using the laparoscopic technique. Surgeons are applying it for more procedures, which not so long ago were performed only in the classical way. The position of laparoscopic surgery is therefore well established, and in many operations it is currently the recommended and dominant method.

Introduction: Transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) has been recently proposed to overcome the difficulties of the standard TME approach, allowing better visualization and dissection of the mesorectal fascia. Although TaTME seems very promising, the evidence and body of knowledge on achieving proficiency in performing it are still sparse.
Aim: To evaluate the learning curve of TaTME based on a single centre's experience.

Subclinical arterial damage connected with endothelial dysfunction is a common denominator of cardiovascular complications in a variety of metabolic diseases, including obesity. The aims of the study was to assess functional vascular changes measured by flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) and nitroglycerin-mediated dilation (NMD) of brachial artery, and to measure vascular structural alterations estimated by carotid intima-media complex thickness (IMT) in short- (10 days) and medium-term (6 months) time after bariatric surgery in patients with extreme obesity. Anthropometric, blood pressure (BP), FMD, NMD, IMT measurements, and laboratory assessment were performed on patients who met the eligibility criteria for bariatric surgery (age 18 - 60 years old, BMI ≥ 40.

Introduction: Due to the constantly growing demand for surgical treatment of obesity, it is necessary to create new bariatric centers and further improve presently active ones.
Aim: To identify which stages of conducting peri-operative care and organizing a modern bariatric center currently pose the greatest challenge.
Material And Methods: An anonymous survey was designed and distributed to bariatric surgeons.
Obesity is considered a serious chronic disease, associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1-induced protein-1 (MCPIP1) is an RNase decreasing stability of transcripts coding for inflammation-related proteins. In addition, MCPIP1 plays an important role in the regulation of adipogenesis in vitro by reducing the expression of key transcription factors, including C/EBPβ.
