Thermoelectric and electrical properties of triple-conducting multicomponent oxides based on substituted barium cerate-zirconate.

Multicomponent oxides often have exceptional thermal stability and interesting electronic properties. The present work presents the thermoelectric and electrical properties of the Ba(ZrHfSnTiFe)O and Ba(ZrHfSnTiCoCeBiFeYZn)O multicomponent perovskites. Single-phase cubic perovskites were synthesized using the solid-state reaction method.

Risk of brain metastases in T1-3N0 NSCLC: a population-based analysis.

Aim: Several consensus guidelines recommend against routine brain imaging at diagnosis of T1-3N0 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: From the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results registry, patients with pathologically confirmed T1-3N0 NSCLC were identified. Risks of brain metastases at time of initial diagnosis were analyzed.

Intermittent pneumatic compression as an adjuvant therapy in venous ulcer disease.

Despite improvements in healing rates venous ulcer disease still carries significant morbidity and cost. Any therapy that further improves healing rates is worthy of consideration. The recognised effects of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) on both arterial and venous circulation suggest that its use may confer significant benefits to venous ulcer healing.

Generalization of excitation and inhibition after different amounts of training of an avoidance baseline.

After acquisition of a treadle-pressing response maintained by an avoidance contingency, four groups of pigeons received interdimensional discrimination training. For two groups, the positive stimulus was a 1000-Hertz tone correlated with the avoidance schedule and the negative stimulus was noise correlated with extinction. The discriminative stimuli were reversed for the other two groups.
