In Indonesia, the over-exploitation and habitat degradation of its biodiverse freshwater fish populations, has led to an urgent need for conservation of endangered fish species. A review is conducted on sustainable captive breeding practices for native Indonesian freshwater fish, with emphasis placed on the importance of ex situ conservation strategies. The key components of captive breeding such as ecological and biological research in the field; capturing, handling, and transportation of fish; selection of genetically diverse breeding stock; care and quarantine measures; feed acclimatization; and creation of reproductive facilities have been discussed.

Background: The preservation of semen quality and kinematic characteristics during cryopreservation is crucial for the reproductive success and genetic management of livestock, particularly in Bali bulls.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effect of adding purified green tea extract antioxidant Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) in tris egg yolk diluent on the quality and kinematic characteristics of frozen semen from Bali bulls.

Methods: Fresh and frozen semen samples were obtained from Bali bull and divided into four different treatment groups.

Due to the lack of environmental stimuli found in their natural habitat, not all species of tiny fish can reproduce naturally in the conditions of captivity. Silver rasbora (Rasbora argyrotaenia) was used as the model organism in this study, which is the first to successfully use the hormonal technique of immersion to mass induce spawning and spermiation in small fish species. In this study, in order to find out the effect of immersion hormone treatment, two separate experiments in which commercial hormone Ovaprim™ was used for spawning induction and Ovagold™ for spermiation induction were conducted.

The aim of this study was to determine the cut-off value of thyroglobulin (Tg) levels as a predictor of metastases in post total thyroidectomy patients with well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC).  A retrospective case-control study with an observational diagnostic approach was done. Subjects were 102 DTC patients divided into a case group with metastases and a control group without metastases.

One of the treatment options for benign thyroid nodules is radioactive iodine (RAI). However, this treatment is more effective for hot/warm solid thyroid nodules. Cold thyroid solid nodules are characterized by the lack of iodine uptake compared to normal thyroid tissue.

The main obstacles on silver rasbora (Rasbora argyrotaenia) culture are having the limited number of broodstock and spawning depending on the season. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different dosage of Ovaprim™ induction by topical gill method to silver rasbora spermiation in order to continue the production out of its reproduction season with an optimum dose. A total of 30 male fish with a weight of 7.

Article Synopsis
  • * Bone scans (BS) are commonly used to monitor these metastases, but there’s a lack of effective clinical techniques for assessing bone tumors and their impact on patient risk.
  • * This study evaluated an automated bone scan index (aBSI) to predict survival in 50 PCa patients, finding that lower aBSI values correlated with better survival outcomes, establishing aBSI as a significant prognostic indicator for PCa prognosis.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a type of dementia which is known as one of a major problem in elderly. Clinicians commonly use mini-mental state examination (MMSE) score to determine the severity of cognitive decline, but MMSE has some limitations such as more subjective, influenced by age, educational degree, and local culture. F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-18 FDG PET) can be used to assess the process of glucose metabolism in posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) area which endures a central role in supporting cognitive function directly.

The aim of this study was to determine the role of antithyroglobulin antibody (ATA) serum as a marker of successful I-131 ablation therapy in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients with low serum thyroglobulin (Tg). A retrospective study was conducted on 60 patients (10 males and 50 females). All patients underwent posttotal thyroidectomy and received 2.
