This has resulted in an increased workload demand for the average diagnostic radiologist, which in many cases translates to longer working hours. It is now more important than ever to be cognizant of various work-related injuries, including repetitive-stress injuries and vision-related ailments as examples, in relation to the working conditions of the radiologist.

In this article, we describe the process, activities, and outcomes of the Leadership Academy (LA), an innovative initiative from MNRS developed to identify, engage, and nurture future generations of leaders.

The role of the dually certified primary care/psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in treating high-needs/high-cost patients.

National nursing organizations have called for nurses to provide leadership in care solutions for high-cost/high-needs vulnerable populations. In response to this call, important modifications are emerging in Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, including an increasing number of nurses pursuing dual certification in primary care and psychiatric mental health or primary care nurse practitioners returning for a postgraduate certificate in psychiatric mental health. This innovative role warrants examination, particularly because it relates to high-needs/high-cost patients such as those with serious mental illness (SMI).

Development of a Medication Management Program in Permanent Supportive Housing.

We describe a nurse-led project that aimed to assist a permanent supportive housing facility for chronically homeless individuals to improve medication adherence by refining a medication management program. Client and staff engagement through needs assessment, feedback, and evaluation formed the foundation for a sustainable medication management program.

The Importance of Body Part Labeling to Enable Enterprise Imaging: A HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community Collaborative White Paper.

In order for enterprise imaging to be successful across a multitude of specialties, systems, and sites, standards are essential to categorize and classify imaging data. The HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community believes that the Digital Imaging Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Anatomic Region Sequence, or its equivalent in other data standards, is a vital data element for this role, when populated with standard coded values. We believe that labeling images with standard Anatomic Region Sequence codes will enhance the user's ability to consume data, facilitate interoperability, and allow greater control of privacy.

Advances in geropsychiatric nursing: A decade in review.

This article provides a brief overview of the early development of geropsychiatric nursing (GPN) as background for examining its advancement subsequent to the 2010 Future of Nursing (FON) Report. The FON's education, practice and leadership recommendations form the three pillars that have supported geropsychiatric nursing's continuing evolution, framed within a practice and policy perspective. Lessons learned are relevant to developing the next phase of FON recommendations.

The number of older adults living with functional decline and serious illness is growing exponentially at a time when availability of both family and professional caregivers is strained. Achieving optimal outcomes for this vulnerable population involves advancing the knowledge needed to improve the quality of care delivered by families, health professionals, and community programs. Recent reports from National Institute of Health and the National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine have called for the identification of gaps in key areas of family caregiving intervention research.

This article presents practical approaches intended to reduce the likelihood of medical trauma in children receiving serial casting for treatment of progressive infantile scoliosis (PIS).

Taking Another Look: Thoughts on Behavioral Symptoms in Dementia and Their Measurement.

This article proposes taking another look at behavioral symptoms of dementia (BSDs) both from a theoretical perspective that informs research and practice and from a measurement perspective. We discuss why this rethinking of behaviors impacts current models of care and our ability to better detect outcomes from interventions. We propose that BSDs be viewed from a pattern perspective and provide some suggestions for how to identify and measure these patterns that can influence the timing and type of intervention.
