Off-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery has recently emerged as a means to avoid the sequelae of extracorporeal circulation, including the whole-body inflammatory response, coagulation disorders and multiple organ dysfunction. At present, gas anesthesia, sevoflurane and intravenous anesthesia and propofol have been widely used during the CABG. To further understand the underlying mechanisms of these anesthetics on the gene level, the present study conducted pathway-related module analysis based on a co-expression network.

Article Synopsis
  • - Hyperin, a flavonoid from certain plant families, exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, but its effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) were previously unknown.
  • - In experiments with mice, hyperin was found to significantly reduce levels of inflammatory markers (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and serum creatinine, indicating its protective effect against LPS-induced kidney damage.
  • - The study concluded that hyperin works by inhibiting key signaling pathways (TLR4 and NLRP3) responsible for inflammation, suggesting its potential use in treating sepsis-induced AKI.

Dexmedetomidine (Dex), a highly selective α2-adrenergic receptor agonist, has been shown to attenuate systemic inflammatory response induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The protective effects of Dex may reportedly be due to the activation of the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR)-dependent cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. Spleen has been shown to play a pivotal role in the neural cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.
