Background: The significant risks of hypothyroidism during pregnancy can be mitigated through timely diagnosis and initiation of thyroxine to achieve a maternal euthyroid state. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of hospital endocrine services by assessing the rate of thyroxine commencement before the initial clinic appointment, the median gestational age at the first consultation, the rate of guideline-appropriate investigations, perinatal outcomes, and the proportion of referred patients who achieved their target thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels before and after implementing a dedicated referral and management pathway.

Methods: A retrospective clinical audit was conducted using electronic medical records for the first fifty consecutive patients with hypothyroidism referred to the hospital clinic during two-time intervals: from April 1 to September 1, 2020 (pre-intervention) and from April 1 to September 1, 2021 (postintervention).

Post-mortem computer tomography (PMCT) is an imaging technique that is gaining popularity both worldwide and in Poland. It provides certain benefits in death investigation that a conventional autopsy is not able to, however, it has significant limitations. As PMCT and post-mortem computed angiography (PMCTA) continue to develop in this country, it is critical to become aware what people know and think about these imaging techniques, especially the prosecutors who officially order such examinations to be performed.

Aspirin (ASA) is a popular nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which exerts its therapeutic properties through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) isoform 2 (COX-2), while the inhibition of COX-1 by ASA results in the formation of gastrointestinal side effects. Due to the fact that the enteric nervous system (ENS) is involved in the regulation of digestive functions both in physiological and pathological states, the aim of this study was to determine the influence of ASA on the neurochemical profile of enteric neurons in the porcine duodenum. Our research, conducted using the double immunofluorescence technique, proved an increase in the expression of selected enteric neurotransmitters in the duodenum as a result of ASA treatment.

Disturbances in uterine contractile activity contribute to the development of inflammation, and recent evidence indicates that tachykinins, including substance P (SP) and neurokinin A (NKA), are involved in controlling uterine function. Here, we determined the effect of (-induced inflammation on expression of protein receptor subtypes for substance P (NK1R) and neurokinin A (NK2R) in the pig myometrium as well as their role in contractility of inflamed uterus. The severe acute endometritis developed in the group and the expression of NK1R and NK2R proteins increased in the myometrium.

The structures and magnetic properties of photoresponsive magnets can be controlled or fine-tuned by visible light irradiation, which makes them appealing as candidates for ternary memory devices: photochromic and photomagnetic at the same time. One of the strategies for photoresponsive magnetic systems is the use of photochromic/photoswitchable molecules coordinated to paramagnetic metal centers to indirectly influence their magnetic properties. Herein, we present two erbium(III)-based coordination systems: a trinuclear molecule {[Er(BHT)](dtepy)}4CH () and a 1D coordination chain {[Er(BHT)(azopy)}·2CH (), where the bridging photochromic ligands belong to the class of diarylethenes: 1,2-bis((2-methyl-5-pyridyl)thie-3-yl)perfluorocyclopentene (dtepy) and 4,4'-azopyridine (azopy), respectively (BHT = 2,6-di--butyl-4-methylphenolate).

Magnetic molecules known as molecular nanomagnets (MNMs) may be the key to ultra-high density data storage. Thus, novel strategies on how to design MNMs are desirable. Here, inspired by the hexagonal structure of the hardest intermetallic magnet SmCo, we have synthesized a nanomagnetic molecule where the central lanthanide (Ln) Er is coordinated solely by three transition metal ions (TM) in a perfectly trigonal planar fashion.

Side effects associated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) treatment are a serious limitation of their use in anti-inflammatory therapy. The negative effects of taking NSAIDs include abdominal pain, indigestion nausea as well as serious complications such as bleeding and perforation. The enteric nervous system is involved in regulation of gastrointestinal functions through the release of neurotransmitters.

Sudden cessation of ovary activity as a result of bilateral oophorectomy or chemo- or radiotherapy in premenopausal women is linked with more serious consequences that bear no comparison to natural menopause - to name just a few: higher rate of mortality, higher rate of colorectal and lung cancer, circulatory system diseases, cognitive disorders, Parkinson's disease, psychological disorders, osteoporosis, and sexual disorders. The prolonged period of estrogens deficit in premenopausal age is connected with worsened quality of life. The progress in oncological care means that in many malignant diseases, also in the case of gynaecological malignancies, the percentage of survivors increases.
