Importance: Many interventions implemented for multi-visit patients (MVP) have been developed to address patient-centric needs of these individuals and reduce unplanned care for ambulatory-sensitive conditions. More rigorous research is needed to better understand the impact of these interventions on changes in care utilization including unplanned care.
Objective: To evaluate the impact of the Enhanced Care Program (ECP), a payer-provider collaborative model, on unplanned care use and cost of care.
Background: Chemotherapy-induced alopecia is a common consequence of cancer treatment with a high psychological impact on patients and can be prevented by scalp cooling (SC). With this multi-center patient series, we examined the results for multiple currently used chemotherapy regimens to offer an audit into the real-world determinants of SC efficacy.
Materials And Methods: The Dutch Scalp Cooling Registry collected data on 7424 scalp-cooled patients in 68 Dutch hospitals.
Synthetic biology enables the creative combination of engineering and molecular biology for exploration of fundamental aspects of biological phenomena. A pre-post analysis of metrics of quality of care for diabetes, hypertension, cancer screenings, and connection to mental health care for participants in the ECP was conducted for patients enrolled in ECP for 6 or more months. Patients enrolled in ECP showed statistically significant improvements in hemoglobin A1c, retinal exams, blood pressure measurements, and screenings for colon cancer, and trends toward improvement in diabetic foot exams and screenings for cervical and breast cancer.
