Wood density is a critical control on tree biomass, so poor understanding of its spatial variation can lead to large and systematic errors in forest biomass estimates and carbon maps. The need to understand how and why wood density varies is especially critical in tropical America where forests have exceptional species diversity and spatial turnover in composition. As tree identity and forest composition are challenging to estimate remotely, ground surveys are essential to know the wood density of trees, whether measured directly or inferred from their identity.

While the rising costs and healthcare utilization associated with polypharmacy and drug interactions have been well documented, effective tools to address these challenges remain elusive. Emerging evidence that proactive medication management, combined with pharmacogenomic testing, can lead to improved health outcomes and reduced cost burdens may help to address such gaps.

Our objectives were to evaluate the evidence for tumor PD-L1 as a prognostic biomarker in MPM through meta-analysis and to determine whether tumor PD-L1 expression is associated with survival in MPM patients undergoing macroscopic complete resection.
Methods: Meta-analysis was performed to determine the association of PD-L1 with overall survival in MPM (n = 1655) from 14 studies containing overall survival and tumor PD-L1 expression.
Objectives: We set out to investigate whether transcriptome-based molecular subtypes in lung adenocarcinoma and lung squamous cell carcinoma are predictive of the response to programmed cell death 1 blockade.
Methods: Molecular classification of non-small cell lung cancer was performed by unsupervised clustering of mRNA sequencing data from 87 lung adenocarcinoma and 101 lung squamous cell carcinoma specimens, and molecular subtypes were characterized according to their immunogenomic determinants. A prediction algorithm of molecular subtypes was applied to 35 patients with non-small cell lung cancer treated with programmed cell death 1 blockade to test its association with treatment response (GSE93157; the Barcelona cohort).
Neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are promising drug targets to manage several neurological disorders and nicotine addiction. Growing evidence indicates that positive allosteric modulators of nAChRs improve pharmacological specificity by binding to unique sites present only in a subpopulation of nAChRs. Furthermore, nAChR positive allosteric modulators such as NS9283 and CMPI have been shown to potentiate responses of (α4)3(β2)2 but not (α4)2(β2)3 nAChR isoforms.
