Imaging features of glomus tumors.

Objective: To describe the imaging findings with pathologic correlation and clinical presentation of glomus tumors.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively searched the surgical pathology database from January 1, 1997, to April 30, 2010, for cases of pathologically proven glomus tumor. Patients who had imaging results available for review were included in the study.

MRI accuracy for tears of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus in patients with acute anterior cruciate ligament injury and the clinical relevance of missed tears.

Objective: The sensitivity of MRI for the detection of tears of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus (PHLM) is lowest compared with that for tears at other meniscal locations, and the presence of simultaneous acute anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury decreases overall MRI sensitivity for meniscal tears. We rereviewed surgically proven cases of missed meniscal tears in knees with an acute ACL injury to determine why PHLM tears may be missed. We also investigated whether the missed PHLM tears were clinically significant-that is, if these tears required surgical repair or resection.

Diffusion tensor imaging of the corticospinal tract before and after mass resection as correlated with clinical motor findings: preliminary data.

Background And Purpose: The role of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in neurosurgical planning and follow-up is currently being defined and needs clinical validation. To that end, we sought correlations between preoperative and postoperative DTI and clinical motor deficits in patients with space-occupying lesions involving the corticospinal tract (CST).

Methods: DTI findings in four patients with masses near the CST and not involving motor cortex were retrospectively reviewed and compared with contralateral motor strength.
