The calixarene-based coating enabled the covalent bioconjugation of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein via the classical EDC/sulfo-NHS procedure. It further conferred remarkable stability to the resulting bioconjugated AgNPs, as no degradation was observed over several months.
