Zinc blocks SOS-induced antibiotic resistance via inhibition of RecA in Escherichia coli.

Zinc inhibits the virulence of diarrheagenic E. coli by inducing the envelope stress response and inhibiting the SOS response. The SOS response is triggered by damage to bacterial DNA.
